Hi everyone! The dates for USAFASS and SLE are conflicting for me, as I was accepted to Session 1 of both. I am hoping to be able to get both experiences if possible and have asked if I can switch my USAFASS session. If this does not work, I could also ask to switch my SLE session, but this would result in me leaving Colorado on June 9th and arriving for SLE in NY on June 10th.

Would this be feasible or advisable? Or would I be too tired to perform well at SLE?

I think it will work; however, I have never had any of my students receive a change in their summer seminar/SLE offers. In fact, I have three of my students in the same situation as I write this response. Their requests have gone unacknowledged. It is not surprising as the schools warn of the difficulty of making changes. Some on the forum have noted that they received a session change, but I've never witnessed it. If you desire a way to see the school up close, then I recommend looking into the summer sports camps. Many of my students have participated in them across all of the SAs. Students stay in the dorms, eat in the mess hall, meet cadets and staff, and they also work with the coaching staff. Good luck!

Last year I was able to request a session switch for SLE and it was changed within a couple days. There were a couple hiccups of the right people not being aware that I was switching sessions once I got there, but USMA was extremely responsive. I'm not sure about USAFA, but if you can switch one to be able to go to both, I'd highly recommend

I emailed Summer.Seminar@usafa.edu about changing my USAFASS date from the virtual session to the first in-person one, they were able to make the change and they responded pretty quickly when I emailed them. I would also follow up with them a few times if they don't respond in a timely manner. I also will be going from the USAFASS to the SLE, I am flying out of Denver on June 9 at 23:59 and arriving at the Newark airport at around 05:30 on June 10th. So if you are able to get your session changed it is possible to make it to SLE the next day after USAFASS ends. As far as whether you will be able to perform well or not, I am just mentally focusing on the fact that going to all of them would be great so I am going to try and push through. Let me know what you end up doing as we may see each other at the summer seminars.

It is a tough push out of EWR, I would recommend taking NJ Transit out and getting into Penn Station and going out from there. You would need to take a couple trains, but it would save a good chunk of change as opposed to Uber or renting a car.

On the West Point candidate kit thing for the SLE they say they will have representatives arriving at EWR at 07:00 with a bus to take those who need it, to West Point from the airport. Would it be better for me to take another mode of transportation or take the bus?

My DS was able to change his USAFASS session by emailing a request. It was a few weeks ago, so it's possible. Hopefully you can make it all work.

Do all you can to grab this option. Can’t beat having cadets awaiting you and organizing your ride. Same goes for heading back afterward. Even if you have to take the red-eye flight, this is worth it.

Don’t worry about “performing well.” This is not a tryout. The only way you can not “perform well” is if you’re a complete a__. Otherwise, if you’re in reasonable shape, eat well and sleep well, you should have no problem fully engaging.

DD did back-to-back-to-back for the three DOD SA summer programs. She was tired at the end, but it was a satisfied kind of tired. You’ll be fine.

Interesting news: one of my students just received a requested change from 2nd session to 3rd session of NASS. I have now 'witnessed' a change.

If you can't change the dates for each session, I might recommend that you go to the summer program of the school you want to go to less to learn about it more. When I went to my summer programs, the admins were pretty flexible about moving your session around.
