I was accepted to AFASS this morning, and shortly before I received my email I registered for the NASS. I am also registered for girls state, which is the same week as AFASS I know that USAFA and USNA are very different and I would learn a lot by going to both. My concern is that going to girls state also adds points to my application, and going to a summer seminar doesn’t. Is it worth it to miss girls state if I am already going to a different SS?

In all honesty, speaking from experience, I would say go to Girls State. I was also accepted to NASS and AFASS, they're both great and a fantastic opportunity to see both campuses and daily life, but NASS was a little more in depth, and in my opinion, much more interesting for me.

Also, I am not sure where you live, but to get to the USAFA is extremely expensive if you're flying in.

I would do Girls State. I did Boys State and I wouldn't have given up that week for anything. It gets you points on your app, you meet your competition from the state, and, in actuality, you learn so much about how America runs, and the driving force behind the decisions that are made every day that we don't quite get to see.

I hope this helped, and if you need any more information about each Summer Seminar, and what it was like, just PM me!

No no no. Don’t miss Girl
State. That is the key highlight of your summer before the real App to the SAs. Put Girl State as number 1 priority. Then others. Ask the SAs to change your schedule if still want to go to all. If they can’t you can miss that summer program. You will enjoy them all. But AFSS Program is intensive in PT Training but the remaining Program runs slow and bit too easy going. You will not like altitude but enjoy the best kept and the most modern campus. Everyone at the Academy have pleasant attitude at the summer program. I heard all that change in Plebe year. Have fun!

Thank you so much! This definitely helped! I’ll PM you if any other questions come up!

Thank you! This really helped clarify my decision and going to Girls State definitely seems like the best option!
