I plan on attending the University of South Carolina on a 4-year AROTC scholarship, does anyone know if they give any discount to ROTC students on room and board, meal plans, etc.? Thanks for any response.

Have you spoken to the ROO there? They can answer your questions. It might also mention it on the USC website.

They did not do so when my son was there. He graduated and commissioned in 2015.

From my understanding it is some private colleges that offer room and board to ROTC scholarship recipients.

There are public schools, too. Check the mega-thread pinned to the top of this forum.

I'm going to usc for arotc, there isn't any special discount for room/board or meal plans

The USC - University of South Carolina! Does anyone know if the lack of room and board coverage includes AFROTC also? My DS received an AFROTC scholarship and also acceptance to USC. It's not top on his list of colleges (still waiting on USAFA) but maybe Plan B or C. BTW I'm a USC alumnus.

You also attended school with the Trojans?:)

No, no, no...USC Gamecocks!

The USC (go Gamecocks!) was a University before California was a state.... [emoji4]
GO COCKS!
I checked it out. School started in 1801 and California became a state in 1850. So you are correct. Having said that, USC was ranked 12th in the nation for football last year. South Carolina didnt make the top 25

I personally don’t gauge the significance of a school by the prominence of their football program lol

I live on the west coast, and Trojan fans are very serious about football, seriously serious! My niece went to the east coast USC and played softball, they were not very good at softball either, but she loved her time there, got a great education that ended in a very coveted job and will forever be a Gamecock!

When I was at USC (Carolina), we played Southern Cal in football and won. The scoreboard said USC East and USC West. There were very funny signs and bumper stickers for that game where the GameCocks beat the Trojans. Now back to the original thread question...

Carolina is more of a basketball school since Spurrier left. The women won the Nat'l Championship last year and the men were in the final four.

The lack of room and board scholarships was true across all the programs when my son was there. Frankly I can't imagine a college granting such a scholarship to one rotc program and not another.

But the only meaningful college football (outside of Navy) is the SEC.
