USCGA 2020 appointments

So, now what? Is there a big packet of information that will be coming in the mail?

Hey there! Congrats. Your future-cadet needs to go into their online acceptance letter and fill out an enrollment form. Within 10-14 days, they will receive a big packet with a leather-bound appointment letter (all service academies do it - it's a pretty big letter with their name on it), and then an acceptance letter and a packet of info. Read through the packet, and then you must choose to accept or decline your appointment. There will be envelopes included that you send the appropriate information back to. You'll need you future-cadet's birth certificate and SSN card. You'll have to send the originals, so create copies to have on hand until they are sent back. Once all that is sent, another packet with info for swab summer and so on will be sent once they receive your decision.

Again, congratulations!

Posted this topic before with little help...Moved my application from early action to regular action with no contact about DoDMERB and have not yet been given a decision. If I were to be denied, wouldn't I have already been turned away by now?

Per USCGA all decisions posted 01 April.

If it is not in the cards for him this year, all hope is not lost. He can go with his plan B for next year and mirror the 4th class course load. If he does really well in his classes, he can always reapply next year. My DS is currently a 2nd class and most of his friends are a year older than he is because they either went through CGAS, self reported to MMI for a year or went to civilian college for a year and reapplied to CGA and NONE of them feel that it was a wasted year. They ALL feel that it was part of their overall journey and they wouldn't change any of it. Good luck!

Grevar, Objee or anyone else who has information - if we hear the worst on Friday - what course schedule should I secure with the local college? We have to secure our spot prior to Friday, and we haven't heard anything from CGA. We're assuming the final will just all come on Friday or Saturday. I see physics, calc, chem. (both sciences with labs?) What other courses should fill the schedule? Does anyone know where an example of the 4/c schedule would be found? Thanks. If we could mirror the day, that would be ideal. Here's to not giving up for an appointment, but we can't hold out any longer and end up no where.

We are still waiting as well. I have high hopes that we will all get are answers before Friday. That is based on feed information from last year. As far as academic courses. The link below outlines the curriculum by year. I think this link is the Engineering Platform, you will have to click around to get the major you are looking for. I would think all the core courses would be the same for all majors (for the most part), at least to start with.

Thank you so much MaggieMae! We're having high hopes of finding out prior to Friday as well. Just interacting with you all on this forum is a form of relief. Thank you so much!!!

You guys will think I'm nuts, but Saturday night I poured over all the past posts for seven threads on the USCGA forum. Even though we are the "quietest" forum, we have had about 50 members post to "waiting" threads, some of us pretty regularly. There are some awesome kids and parents out there, and I don't know how I would have survived this winter without this interaction. Over 20 DSs/DDs have now received appointments and/or were pulled off the EA wait list. Unfortunately, some have received TWEs, and after reading their posts before and after, I have felt so sad for them. The rest of us are still holding our breath and now crossing various body parts...I wish each and every kid represented here could make it in. Let's hope for GOOD NEWS coming soon...

DS got his appointment!! He called his AO today because he received an invitation to the AEP which is only for students with conditional or full appointment but his portal still states he is waitlisted. He was told by his AO that he has a full appointment to the class of 2020. We are very happy and so proud of him! Hoping everyone gets good news too!
