USCGA 2021 Appointments

Good luck to all EAs waiting to hear. The waiting will all be over in a few weeks (unless you are one of the few that get waitlisted).
If you don't make it this year, there is always next year to reapply and other options as CaptMJ pointed out. A year post High School is good experience to determine if the Coast Guard is where you want to be.

Fingers crossed for you all.

It's awfully quiet in here? Anyone receive any news since last Tuesday?
AEP invites have gone out ...
Academy Experience Program (AEP): Held between January and April, this is a comprehensive orientation for appointees and parents. Join future members of your class, current cadets and staff to understand the expectations, challenges and rewards of cadet life, with emphasis on preparation for Swab Summer. Participants will enjoy meeting future classmates and depart well prepared for Reporting-In Day.

This is a question for whoever has an appointment so far...

What were your PFE scores? And how discipline were you in sticking to form?

I got a 234 sticking strictly to the book, which I thought was decent. But then I helped my friend out and he had a different person who didn't make him stick to the form of pushups and sit-ups especially. He got a 257 because of that. I know its not that big of a deal, but I want to make sure a lower score than other EAs won't bring me down just cause I stuck to the instructions.

Excellent scores!

How is a 211 for a female?
It's very good, of course all the scores can be improved on, but a 211 PFE is a good one! My DS while at AIM received a 194 I believe. He said he was about average for the group. He used that score on his application and was given a nomination to the prep program.

My DD will snag prep in a heart beat! Funny thing is she went to the Genesis Invitational and left the house with a 180 score. When she went in to take the test, one of the admissions guys ran with her! Her adrenaline went into over drive and finished with higher score. Strange though because only one third of the 50 took the test and those scores were pretty low. This was mid November. When did these kids think they were going to be ready for the PFE? Times almost up!

Hi all, New mom. DS EA - notified 11/22/16 of appointment (he is nervous but really excited to go). Some asked for stats - did AIM in July, DoDMERB in September. PFE I think about 230? (redid the one from AIM). SAT 1410. GPA u/w 3.6. Pretty typical AP class load (heavy math/science/STEM). Eagle Scout. Good athlete (not recruited) and Robotics/Cyber. Awesome support/guidance from regional Academy rep and local parent rep. We think interview and specific trip to meet potential coach and potential academic department chair helped solidify intent/showed desire (and he loved seeing the amazing possibilities for him at the Academy - made it all very real). Best of luck.

The general thought is that we're currently between rounds of the review board, hopefully it won't be more than a couple weeks more before news!
Weeks! Ugh!

I hope the rest of us hear soon. Especially since these AEP invites have gone out already. I'm hoping we don't have to wait until Dec 24 and that there will be another round next week. Thoughts???

I don't have any thoughts about it, but I hope it comes soon too!
