USCGA Application

Two sides to that question.
First appointments will be coming out very soon. Should probably see activity in a week. Last year people got calls on Monday Nov 9th.
Good Luck!
The other side of the question, if a person was one of the first people to apply, their application may get reviewed but decision postponed until all applicants reviewed as they may not be the strongest candidate. So some of the first people to apply may not get a decision until late December.
Everybody is still in the running for EA until they get accepted; wait listed; CGAS or TWE.
7 full weeks of fun left for EA!

I did no know that they called, I thought it was just posted on Bears Den.......???

If anyone has an understanding of "rounds", I too would be interested in learning more about this. Thank you!

One more question, if you are not accepted during EA and your in an early "round" and it's just not the year for an individual for whatever reason, will the Academy let students know early as well or do they wait until 12/23 to receive rejection?

Plans B, C already in process-just wondering how early he should jump on plans D, E, F and so on...

Thank you!

He received a call directly from admissions a few days after attending the Cadet for a day program. Bears Den update followed a few days later. He was actually denied a place in AIM and thought his chances were slim.

DS did Cadet for a day in August, we applied EA.....and now we wait........fingers crossed.

DS went through this last year.
If I remember right there are at least 3 EA admission rounds. Last year it seemed to be around the 1st week of Nov, last week of Nov and towards middle/end of Dec (several days before the posted final date)

As for when an applicant will know of rejection it depends on how close they are to being accepted. If they are in that border zone of neither being a weak candidate (rejected early) or a slam dunk candidate for acceptance the decision may not be shared until close to the end of EA. I think my DS found out 12/18 that he was waitlisted and then it was not until June the following year that he got TWE. By that time we were on plan D because of how late he found out.

Thank you. Very helpful......and stressful. Lol
Yep, it is the lucky few in EA and RA that get acceptance in the first / second round. For the rest, it is a slow stressful process. I am sure it is not much fun for admissions either once they get to the candidates that are all very qualified but they have to find reasons to pick one over another.

Thank you Chuck20-very helpful!
He's working on plans C and D this weekend.
Best to everyone!

So I'm a bit confused. I received the email in the middle of October saying my application would be reviewed in the next two weeks. But that doesn't necessarily mean my decision will come soon?

Nope. It all depends on what bucket (accepted, rejected, waitlisted) you're in. Just brace yourself and think the decision will come out in March.

If it comes out earlier, it will be a happy surprise.

Otherwise, you've prepared yourself mentally.

Oh gosh. Here I was checking my email and thinking they were coming out in the next few days. Well time to settle in for a long wait!

depends on when you submitted - DS submitted his app early sept (9/3)- from what i have heard he's in the second round pile ... i think less than 100 made it to review for the first round and the appointment count isn't enough to legally drink ... here's to all the new ulcers and grey hairs ... good luck

My DS submitted on 9/28, so he may be in a later round. But, his chin is up. Remember, Tom Brady was selected in the 6th round so there is hope :)

I guess we'll sit and wait, and you're right about the gray hairs. Jeez, he seems more relaxed than my wife and I are. Does your DS have a check mark on the second one in Bear's Den? We only have one in the first one (Application Complete).

I texted DS to ask if he heard anything ... i got "patience young grasshopper" as a reply
