Florida is always in the running to be one of the top three states (usually competing with CA, MD, NY, PA, and VA) in terms of the number of appointment offers. Class of 2018 statistics will not be released until July, but last year they had 24 appointment offers which was #2 behind Virginia with 28 appointment offers.
 
Do more students apply to the CGA from those states? Is there another reason that they are well represented? Is it a disadvantage to be from the CGA's home state of CT?

Yes, significantly more students apply from those states than CT, but that doesn't really matter since we do not have geographic/state quotas. If 100 students applied from CT, and they were the best 100 in the entire applicant pool, all 100 would be appointed. Unlike the other service academies which must appoint by Congressional district (or Congressional state delegation for USMMA) due to the nomination requirement, we consider an applicant's home of record as part of our holistic review process, but it's essentially a nation-wide competition.

Same as every other state...just substitute TX for CT below:
