USCGA Class of 2019 statistics and waitlist?

engineering, yuck! What about criminal justice? I want to raid drug vessels and stop illegal fishing not build boats. Just, FYI I do/ want combat-oriented things:wrestling, judo, BJJ (Your analogy was appealing). Some of those kids at USCGA at may have 5.0 GPA's and want to be engineer. I am not one of those kids, I would be that guy with a 3.5-4.0 that gets 300's on his PFE, kills almost every-one else at hand-to-hand combat and will a badass cop. With what I read on averages and what I performed I thought I would fill that not-as-smart physical brute niche at USGCA.

There is no justice for a criminal justice major. Take the AROTC, go to FSU. I hear they have a good football team.

You could end up as Aids to Navigation (Buoy Tender). You'd be bummed.

I will look into this option though, there may be things being left out that would help this decision. Not to mention the USCGA has a wait-list for enlisted folks because the jobs are so good. With a environment such as this, I should at least look into it. If not, I will go AROTC and maybe apply to USMA because that's the same branch.

Just thought I'd share mine although I (unfortunately) did not get in. I did however get into usmma.

My credentials:
4.16 gpa (top 15%)
29 act (34 math 30 eng)
1980 sat (750 math 580 cr)
CFA: 265 pts
4x wrestling varsity
1x cross country varsity
Eagle Scout
Cross country captain
Hella comm. service
Have had a 40hr week summer job for 3 years

Thanks, Idk why you couldn't have got it as the middle 50% is a 25-30 ACT Composite, I had a 26 ACT and I would bet would be the only weak part of my package. You have the same PFE score and a slightly higher GPA. I can only guess that New London is really pushing their 50% minorities, 50% women policy. I hope those individuals that got in had something better than just skin color or different private parts. Congrats on USMMA though.

Yeah I also applied early action, which may have been a deal breaker tbh. I was unaware of the fact that it doesn't "roll over" to reg admissions like most other colleges do.

I got options though so it doesn't matter too much. Also interesting you do XC and wrestle too, I never met anyone else with that combination of sports. I wrestled Varsity for four years and was a Captain my Junior and Senior season and I also ran Varsity XC for three years and was Captain my senior year. I am also an Eagle Scout from Troop 205 achieved in 2014.

Yeah it is a weird combo. It actually started just Xc in Seventh grade but needless to say I was lighter than most and my middle school needed an 80 lb feather weight. I was like eh what the heck and have stuck with it ever since. I truly love it. Also, Xc is a great way to stay in shape and maintain weight for wrestling

It is, I found that XC is easier than wrestling though. XC was more business as wrestling was what I truly loved. Though, you don't wrestle for PT exams.

Yeah Xc was a lot more laid back (less effort required). But it sure did help me with the CFA and stuff like that tho. Without it I would have probably gotten a low 7 min mile instead of the 5:14 that I got.

I would definetly have not did what I did w/o XC, granted wrestlers are pit-bulls and runners are greyhounds, when do people bring greyhounds to a fight?

Hardknock, I'm finding very hard to sympathize. You got Florida in-state tuition, with Bright Futures and someone (grandparents?) put money in a Florida Pre-paid plan. You were awarded 2 extremely hard to get difficult scholarships. Basically you could walk out of college free and clear as a civilian, if you choose. Some kids are looking at 40k per year (160k) in tuition. Its not having what you want, but wanting what you got. (OMG I just quoted Cheryl Crow)
Go to UCF for a year, Red Shirt your sport, join some community service group, choir/music, and make sure you CRUSH the academics especially Calculus and Physics. I know you'll get in on the second go around. They want kids that Get It Done. Show them. Don't lay down on the mat like a fish, its still the 1st period of the match. It could be worse, you could have a broken nose.

"Nothing is over until we say its over. Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell NO! Cause when the going gets tough, the tough get going". (Bluto's Big Speech)

Are you kidding me? The Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor not the Germans
