I am curious to know if any USCGA 2023 candidates with DQ's been granted a medical waiver from USCGA's waiver authority. My DS have been waiting 100+ days. We got a confirmation that it was requested because he received an LOA but no other news since late Sep'18.

DS has gone through the “process” twice. Once as an applicant and once while at prep school. Last year he literally got the “all clear” two days before Day one. All you can do is make sure you have provided them with all the info that they have asked for. It seems that both times it was about 3-4 months before it was resolved.

We will also be entering the waiver process. Wow, I had no idea the wait could be so long and drawn out. Getting notified two days before reporting day had to have been a nailbiter!

It was quite awful. Down to the wire.

Unfortunately, the medical waiver review process for the Class of 2023/CGAS Class of 2020 has been paused due to the partial shutdown since the civilian staff members (both in the Admissions Office and CGA Clinic) responsible for it have been furloughed. This important process will resume as soon as those employees return to work.

My son is in the Class of 2022 and went through the waver process Feel free to email me at wolfpierce@aol.com with questions. The process is long but very well laid out and when my son would email the DoDMERB case manager he would get fairly prompt responses. Make sure you send in all information they request as soon as you can and keep copies. My son would email the documents not fax.

Hello Objee ... What happened if the furlough extends beyond Fe 15, March 15, April 15, May 15? Is there a contingency plan? If so, when will the contingency plan kicks in so that the candidates have a fair evaluation?

@Objee ... I am sorry to have asked the questions. I just read the facebook message from the Commandant re-garding the historic first time ever that a servicemembers have not been paid. Thank you for your service.

No need to apologize...we plan to restart the medical waiver review process (even if those critical civilian staff members are still furloughed) by February 1st to ensure we can finalize the medical status of all Early Action conditional appointees by May 15th.

Hopefully Naval follows your lead. ;)

My DD got her waiver followed immediately by full appointment, which she has accepted. Good luck for everyone still waiting.

Any waivers being granted? DD still waiting. Anyone else out there?

My DS was also granted his waiver. It seemed to take forever. I can only imagine still waiting at this late date. I think the government shut down really had an effect on the process and created a backlog. Hopefully, you will hear soon!

Thank you, and congratulations! DD received and accepted at USAFA! She advised the USCGA when they reached out to her to ask of her plans. I don’t even know the status of waiver. Colorado Springs, here she comes.

The Waiver for our DD just came through, Full Apppointment Letter with cadet number was right after that on "Bears Den" posted. So all the once who are still waiting, do not give up your hopes. The staff is still activily working on the reviews and all you can do is continue to pray and wait.

What a nail biter! I am glad it worked out. I wondered if they were still working on waivers. And the wait listed folks. Congratulations!

I know of one that came through this past Wednesday.

My son received the email stating his waiver was granted and he was fully accepted while he was in line for graduation (May 23) !! It made his day doubly special.
