USCGA Class of 2024 Rejection Thread

@sanman Yes, I definitely see your point! Thank you for responding. I guess we won't know what the OP's intentions were, but my impression was that it was someone having a hard time coming to terms with the "no," and the "information gathering" post was done out of frustration, anger, and disappointment.

I will admit that I felt for AppDad because as much as we are all warned to: "assume it's a no, unless you hear a yes" it is pretty tough to do, and many of us end up doing the exact opposite.

Just wasn't crazy about the "wah, wah" post...how does this help our forum? That kind of judgment just discourages members from posting and contributing.
Don't disagree with anything you have said here. One thing about the parents who post here is that they obviously want the best for their kids and are trying to support them as best they can. Anyone who has been involved with applying for an SA knows what a roller coaster it is!

My nephew graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering from a highly ranked college. He wasnt top of the class, but no slacker either.

He sent resumes to the East to West coasts. For two years. While he lived at home and worked as a grocery bagger and started paying his maybe $60k or more in student loans.

The guaranteed employment after graduation isn’t a bad deal, either. I don’t look at it as being a non-scholarship. It’s a good gig if you can get it.
If anyone read the book ”there is life after college” one of the biggest takeaways was ”it’s all about internships...I’m not talking one, I’m not talking two, I’m talking one every year” my son graduated this past December with a degree in Electical Engineering. He had 5 engineering internships and had NO PROBLEM getting a job. In fact he had a full time job offer from a Major aerospace company 5 mos. before graduation. It’s all about the internships friends! Did I fill out hundreds of online internship apps for him at night while he was studying....YES....and was It worth it YES.

I totally agree with you about this. One of our sons is currently at McGill studying computer science -- I helped him land a great internship (through local school connections) and he is the 'envy' of his class. In other countries the focus is on the job after graduation - and the internships leading to that job - not so much on the name of the school. With stem degrees the course material is pretty standard -- undergrad.

Just to be clear, have there been any rejections for RA yet? I don't believe I have seen any, but I definitely could be wrong.

For EA, they waited until the deadline and then sent the rejections out in Bulk.

Has everyone in RA that has not been contacted yet for an appointment been requested for a medical exam?

I would think so because if not you would be hard pressed to get a medical waiver (if required) by the 15 May deadline.

For the EA were any appointments given out on the deadline or just rejections?

Suggest you review the appointment list in the appointment list thread. The notification dates are all there. Defer/rejection letters went out December 20.

If I understand it they contacted all EA Appointees first, than sent out EA rejections. My DS was actually notified (rejected) the day before the deadline or about 24 hours.
