Undecided means they haven’t accepted their appointment yet. Many applicants apply to more than one service academy and may be waiting for all decisions before choosing which to accept. What does "undecided" mean in the column that identifies the major? Isn't everyone supposed to declare a major in order to apply?
Yes but that wasn’t the question. Some have put undecided as their Major but during the application process you have to state your intended Major.Undecided means they haven’t accepted their appointment yet. Sorry I misread. Looking back at the start of the list though, a couple people did not list their major, somehow when the list was just redone, undecided was put there instead of ??? or not reported. I thought that was one of the interesting things about CGA that you are selected with a specific major. There is some opportunity to change majors once there, but it is a competitive process as limited spots may be available for certain majors.Yes but that wasn’t the question. I’m interpreting the post at issue to be that of someone who is reluctant to share both major and state with the forum. For CGA, a major is declared during the application process. Last time I checked XX was not a state abbreviation either. What does "undecided" mean in the column that identifies the major? Isn't everyone supposed to declare a major in order to apply?
I understand if you don’t happen to know the answer to this, but are certain majors more selective than others? I chose cyber systems, so would they judge particular parts of my application harder than if I selected a different major? Or are they just looking to fill up the class roster with an equal distribution of the majors? Would selecting a certain major have made me seem “more desirable” for an appointment? (All hypothetical, my application has been complete for a few months now.)Coast Guard Academy is tracking whatever applicant listed as their first choice for major on their application. CGA Admissions utilizes majors listed on application as a selection criteria for admission offers -- USMA, USNA and USAFA do not.
It would depend on how many people apply for each major. Obviously the academy wants to ensure it can provide officers that will fill the requirements of the Coast Guard when they graduate. So I am sure they have an idea of how many cadets they want for each major. Having said that selecting one major over another doesn’t restrict what role you take when you graduate.I

Congrats! Did she receive a phone call before she received the envelope? My DD got her BFE today. Pretty cool package with the formal appointment letter. Maybe the second batch of letters going out now?
My daughter said they accept less Management and Government majors to begin with because they know that several cadets will switch from a stem major into one of those 2 non-stem majors during the first year. After the first year, there isn't much opportunity to switch.Coast Guard requires more engineering type majors so there are more slots in each class for engineering majors -- Cyber is part of this group -- nearly 80% of admissions last year were STEM majors.
There are drastically less slots for Government and Management majors. Class of 2024 only had 22 Management majors out of 272 admissions -- barely over 8%.
50% seems high. Last year was around 20% with 70 appointments reported here and around 350 appointments tendered overall. It looks like there are 89 members of the class of 2025 facebook group, and there are 46 members of this group that have been offered admission. Do the longtime members of this forum think this 50% representation is accurate? So have only 89 spots been offered as a result of the EA process?
