USCGA EA and Regular Admissions

October 15th was the "hard deadline" for students to submit their application for Early Action (EA), but then the deadline for all required application material (letters of recommendation, PFE results, etc.) to be received for EA was November 1st and that was actually extended to November 15th this year. EA applicants are notified via e-mail when their record is complete and scheduled for review, so that's a good time to submit any final updates or decide to switch to Regular Admission, but there is never a deadline for an applicant to update their record with new information. Regardless of final outcome, each record goes through at least three reviews before a decision letter is published, so new information that may not have been considered during the initial review could be available for subsequent reviews. That's why we always tell applicants that their record is under review until they receive a decision letter from us.
So the real deadline was 15 NOV as long as a Candidate hit the submit button?

Once again, do updated ACT scores fall into the updated information categor?

Is it me, or is the process a little confusin?

Sorry, but my iPad cuts off a letter when I insert punctuation.

If a student "hit the submit button" by October 15th and requests Early Action (EA) review then the (extended) deadline this year for their recommenders, PFE Administrator, etc. to submit their material was November 15th. Any new information, including updated ACT/SAT scores, can be submitted by the applicant at any time, but we consider the test score requirement met as soon as a single set of scores are received and therefore we wouldn't delay an EA review to wait for updated scores. The applicant can hope the updated scores are received before their record is reviewed, but if they want to guarantee the new scores are considered then they should wait for Regular Admission.

Whether or not our process is "a little confusing" is an opinion, so if you believe it's confusing then I agree it's confusing for you. If others believe it's not confusing, then I believe it's not confusing for them. Our goal is for the application process to not to be confusing for anyone, but I appreciate that we can always improve our Applicant Handbook, the information shared on our website or online forums like this one, the training our Admissions Officers (AO) receive, etc. Feedback is the best way to learn something may not be working, so I always encourage applicants/parents to ask questions and share their thoughts directly with their AO, local Admissions Partners, or other staff here at CGA.

Good evening, We are entirely new to the application process and SA forum so forgive me if this is a clumsy question. DD is (like many others I imagine) awaiting USCGA EA results.

Is there anything to be read into not having heard anything yet? (Likely denial or deferral or CGAS offer vs. acceptance?). Just wondering if those accepted through EA have likely already been notified by now?
Thanks in advance!

No, USCGA said decisions will be released by 12/23/20.

DD has a few days yet, so don't read too much into it and have her focus on everything else she can focus on, like what her wonderful parents will give her for her last year at home for Christmas!!!

Right?
