For both of my senators as well as my congressman, I am supposed to write an essay about why I want to attend a U.S. Service Academy. I am also supposed to write an essay about why I want to attend West Point for the USMA application. Does anyone think it is a bad idea to use the exact same essay for more than one of these (congressman, senators, USMA) since it is the exact same question?

I don't think so unless you change your mind between essays...or one is a Republican and the other a Democrat:smile:

While I am sure some candidates write separate essays for each MOC, I would venture a guess that most use the same one (the topic is identical; why not?). I know the one who lives here (or at least visits occassionally) did.

Not always the case! DS is having to write different essays for each MOC. One requires three, another two!

I used my essays for all nomination sources so long as the questions were the same. There is nothing wrong with it at all!

Hawk,
Sorry I was not more clear: if the topic is the same, many use the same essay. All three of our MOCs had the same topic. Two required additional essays on different topics. Between MOC essays, candidate statements, etc...many essays were written! While that was daunting, it did not even compare to the plethora of required writing plebe year! :thumb:
