Based on my research, USMA Acceptance day is scheduled for August 19, 2017. Unfortunately, my cousin has had her wedding planned for months on this day as well. It is around 150 miles away and is scheduled to be at 6 in the afternoon. Does anyone know if the parameters surrounding A Day would allow me to attend the wedding after A Day concludes? Also, can someone let me know what the schedule is like for A Day and what time I can expect it to end?

Every year is different but you probably will not be allowed out beyond walking priveleges. And man oh man I wouldn't be thinking about my cousin's wedding right now. I would be preparing for Beast and doing what it takes to be accepted into the Corps of Cadets. Just my two cents.

The rules the last couple of years have let plebes go 75 miles - as far as New York City; before that, it was walking privileges (close in) unless to a restaurant or hotel with parent. Unfortunately, you won't really know until closer to time. As for the schedule, what's happened in the past - parade and ceremony in the late morning on A-Day, with free time afterward until taps - don't remember what time that is, but 11pm-midnight? when you have to be back in barracks. Free time again the next morning until dinner.

Soldiers' and officers' lives are full of sacrifices. If you enter WP and if you graduate and commission as an officer, you will miss weddings, births, holidays, and, yes, even funerals. Many of us who post on this forum are parents of children who are currently serving, some posters are parents of current cadets, and other posters are former military. We can all share with you numerous important family events that our young men and women who serve this great country have missed over the years. The mission always come first.

If you have a plebe participating in A-day, skip the wedding and go. Do not miss either R-day or A-day. They are special for both the cadet and the parent. Very very emotional, and will leave you with a pride you have never felt before.

A-day awesome! The parade is tremendous (for us this year it was also unbelievably hot....Like 185 degrees if memory serves me correctly), but then you get your cadet, in whites over grey, and can go beyond walking privileges, so can have a great day. Your cadet will be tired, but will have a ton to tell you. It's really cool. You also get to spend the next day with your Cadet. Go for sure.

R-day is sad and exciting at the same time, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

....Looking at original post, the schedule is very open after the parade ceremony. Basically the Cadet just needs to be back by like 1 in the morning. The Cadet must stay within 75 miles of WP. At least that it how it was this year. You could take cadet to wedding if within that radius.
