I know there are numerous threads on this subject, but I'm wondering what this year's new appointees (and those who are hopeful) are planning to do if they have also received a ROTC scholarship offer, but plan to accept the appointment. We want to help DS be wise and we've read the horror stories about people getting turned back for injuries. Will you be waiting until the last minute to decline your scholarship? Any advice from those who have been through it before?

My DS is in the same boat, and as USMA (and USNA if he receives an appointment) have always been Plan A, he will be accepting an appointment and turning down the AROTC scholarship. While it is a wonderful thing to know he received a 4 yr scholarship, it was always Plan B. He earned both, worked hard for both and luckily received both, but the decision for him is fairly easy. And yes, he will be keeping the AROTC scholarship until the last minute.
