Hello,
I am new to the service academy forums. I have been looking through these all the time but I never posted until now.

I applied to all three service academies, and am still waiting to hear back from USMA and USAFA (I never received a nomination for USNA so I got a TWE from them a while back). I have nominations for both the USAFA and USMA and am medically cleared for both.

USMA gave me a medical waiver on the 28th of February and I haven't heard back from them since then. I keep hearing about April 15th on this site and am hoping I get some form of response on or before then.

If it is relevant to you I have a 3.6 GPA (our school does not weight GPA's, so that is the unweighted score), 1440 SAT, and maxed out all components in the CFA except the basketball throw. I am also the Track/XC captain of my team. I also have varsity years on baseball and golf, and a bunch of other extra curricular activities but I'm not really looking to put my whole resume on here right now.

Do I still have a shot or are the majority of slots already taken?

Thanks

I'm not one to determine whether or not you have a chance seeing that I'm an applicant for the class of 2022. Despite that, I've learned from being on this board and hearing the sentiments of many that it isn't over til it's over.

Goodluck!

You still have a shot until the TWE comes.

My DD is still waiting. She has a 4.0 unweighted GPA, top 3% in her class with a 32 ACT and two year captain of the varsity soccer team. The wait is stressful on everyone. I do feel your pain!

There are still slots to be filled. As long as you are 3Q with a nomination it is not over until you get a TWE. It is impossible for anyone but someone in admissions to to give you reliable feedback on your chances. There are too many variables. Since the May 1st date to accept/decline offers from civilian schools is approaching, you may want to contact your RC and discuss your chances.

In past years April 15 was the date by which applicants offered appointments had to respond. This year that date is May 1. How the change will affect the flow of appointments has yet to be seen. As that date approached there was an expected cluster of applicants declining offers and possible additional appointments offered depending on yield and class composition. For example, if a projected slate winner declines and an appointment has not already been made to the next in line, an appointment will go out immediately to the next in line on that slate.

Good luck

Thanks for posting this.
Our DS also applied to USNA/USAFA/USMA & ROTC
He was medically DQ in March for a fractured foot that happened in Aug 2016. He has since completely recovered and at 100%
So now, we wait and pray for a waiver.
His goal has always been to serve this great nation we all love.
Today, he was advised he is WL for USNA
Like so many of you, we watch, listen, wait & pray for good news!

In the meantime, as parents we are so proud for all of these young men & woman whose desire is to serve the USA.
God bless each and every one of these applicants!
