Hi,
I was wondering how Asthma affects the admissions process. Will it hold me back? Do they have different policies if it was a childhood issue? Is exercise induced Asthma handled differently?

Thanks,
Tony

How it affects admissions varies case by case. There are a zillion threads about asthma on here. Try using the search function towards the top of the page to find them.

See Appendix B, p. 44 at link below to get you started, then look for the latest version. If you haven’t yet read every page, link and drop down at USMA.edu, I recommend it. It’s the primary source, and most answers are there.

Here on SAF, I recommend browsing the DODMERB forum, and Stickies. Use the Search function. There are dozens of threads on asthma.

DODMERB Qs or DQs based on the standard for accession into an officer program. Depending on the medical history, and any remedial information requested, USMA may or may not grant a waiver.

Edit: I can see this link on Safari, the entire document, but the link is not working here.
Just google “USMA medical requirements for admission,” and look for USMA.edu pages.

And, here is what I believe is the current DOD standard, see pp. 16-17:
