When do USMA cadets have the opportunity to attend basic airborne school?

And what is the date of the school if anyone knows?

Thanks!

Yes they send several groups after Plebe year. Most do Air Assault at West Point. You may want to consider that it may be your only chance to get Air Assault in your career unless you get in the right units where you can probably get Airborne after graduation

Class of 21 was not allowed to apply for airborne this summer [after plebe year.] Prior years have had the option. This year all plebes will do Air Assault at WP. [Well almost all.]

But your opportunity would be over one of the 3 summers, there are other mandatory summer training requirements on campus [Buckner] that take priority.

Any idea why no airborne?

Wondering if it's logistics. Last summer was chaos for some with jumps cancelled due to aircraft maintenance issues and shortages.

Just plebes restricted as I understand it - upperclassmen can still apply. Total numbers likely similar.

Actually makes sense. Many Yearlings stuck with long break this summer and next summer packed with little leave - already did airborne, not enough CTLT/Air Assault/Leadership slots for rising Cows this summer.

Almost all is correct. My DD is not one, but she will be off in a foreign country on an AIAD :)

Right now junior enlisted personnel are the priority for jump school slots, and it has cut into the slots from commissioning programs.
