Hi, I received a LOA in late December and a nomination. I was wondering when the first wave of appointments will be sent out?? I heard they're normally mid-January but my friend said that apparently they're being sent out Jan 30th this year. Anyone have any insight?

My FFR says they will be out on the 30th, not sure if it will pop up on the portal anytime before that

Woah, turns out that I'm that friend. Would love some more info rn as both of us are sick/getting sick over stress.

One of my liaisons (though not FFR) said around the 15th. Since this is coming up so soon, I’m sure we’ll find out which it is...

Past appointment waves have suggested that it will be this week! I think you are correct.

I’ve had an LOA since August and Nom since November. We’re all waiting. Hopefully the BFEs do come on the 15th.

I’ve heard of a lot of people who’ve have LOA’s and don’t get an offer on the first wave. A few years ago, two people in a district near mine applied and only one had an LOA. The one who didn’t was given an offer on the first wave, and the LOA holder didn’t receive one until late February. If you have an LOA and don’t get an offer on the first wave, don’t worry about it. You have an LOA.

Also, depending on your MOC, you may or may not find out through them before you receive your BFE in the mail. So pick up the phone!!

If your MOC doesn’t call, then you could also see the offer of appointment on your portal. There’s a button that’ll change or pop up that gives you an opportunity to accept the appointment. BFE came after the portal change.

My DD had an LOA in late August. She got the call from the MOC the Wednesday before MLK weekend. Her portal changed 3 days later on Saturday.

Answer your phone. My DD was getting ready for cheer practice when she got the call so she missed it. She called back thinking it would be the MOC’s staff or VM answering the call. To her shock, it was the MOC’s personal cell phone.

ok, thank you all so much!! who does get an offer in the first wave if it is not all LOA holders? when is the second wave?

Appointments are released based on when a candidate was fully qualified with nomination. Because service connected noms tend to come in earlier, those are usually the first wave that come out in mid to late January along with candidates whose Congressional Districts released nominations early in the process.

Along with what was said above, the first wave is the obvious appointments. Principle Noms, slate winners, etc.

I’m going to make a thread soon asking more about this and when the 150 NWL kids get in.

Not necessarily true. As I stated above, you need to be fully qualified with a nomination to make it to the committee to potentially be offered an appointment. You could have an LOA or a PNOM, but if you, for example, cleared medical late, you will not have your file reviewed until you have met all requirements for admission.

Right, I meant assuming files were complete and qualified. I should have clarified, so I’m glad you did!

Man. I have an LOA + nom but still going through the waiver process, so no appointment for me until ~ February. Would I receive an appointment right after I get medically cleared or will they wait to send it in the next wave?

thank you all so much! i hope to be in the first wave. i finished all parts of my app in november and was 3qed in december and received my loa and nom then too. so hopefully i'll be in the first wave!

and @sunnytrail i believe you have to get medically cleared before receiving an appointment!

It’s a Tuit Process. When they get to it. No way to predict.

Stay positive, focus on what you can control, enjoy family and friends in possibly the last few months of relative freedom at home. You will not get this time back.

Wow, a lot of people are saying they received their nomination november/december; Maryland senators haven't released anything yet.
