Congratulations, guys! Y'all are in for a hell of a ride ;)

I was wondering (if I get accepted) if I would see a change in my portal before I get a BFE?

Although procedures were different 2+ years ago, my son got his BFE one day after noting the change on his portal. It was Thanksgiving Weekend. Although he did not receive a telephone call, he didn't expect one due to the nomination source.

Good luck to all!

USMA Class of 2017 Facebook Group

The coming weeks will be nerve wracking for candidates and their parents as USMA as everyone awaits hearing back from the Admissions Office.

If you (or your DS/DD) receive an appointment to USMA, please send me a private message and I will add you to the USMA Class of 2017 Facebook Group.

Go Army!

Also...there are two informative "unofficial" pages: West Point Moms & West Point Dads. These pages are not class-specific and in addition to SA forums, are a great source of info from parents who have been there, done that, and bought the t-shirt (and mug, car tag, hoodie, pin, pillow, stuffed animal....).

Parents, as you begin this journey, you are going to discover many different sources of information available to you. While it is certainly wonderful to use multiple resources, please keep in mind that Debra Dalton does work for USMA as the Parent Communications Liaison at West Point and coordinates with the various agencies and offices on West Point to insure parents/parent clubs are given timely and accurate information. So, as you join various FaceBook pages or forums, take all other information with a large grain of salt. There are many out there who present themselves as "experts", and even mean well, but can cause undue distress by disseminating misinformation. You will also discover that cadets are world champions at churning out rumors; again, if you have any questions or concerns, you should address them to one of the venues Deb either authors or participates in to get the "rest of the story". :)

timetocarrigan - are you a parent? If so, no need to create a second 2017 parents page as there is one, as noted above - Deb Dalton will add parents who send a request after their son or daughter has been offered an appointment.

And then there is West Point Moms - and West Point Moms Bake (sign up to bake and ship homemade goods to a soldier who is deployed).

But if you're a kid, then post that here, so other cadet candidates can join after they receive their appointments.

One week to go :)

First post on this site! I'm happy to say that I will be joining this notable and growing list as I received an acceptance call! To those waiting--hang in there. Congressional AL-06 (Supe, I believe!) and I got an LOE beforehand for those wondering.

Congratulations christiano241! Did your MOC give you "the call"? Are you a principal nominee? Again congrats! :thumb:

Thanks My3Sons2017! Actually, Rep. Bachus's Chief of Staff called me, letting me know that I would receive the single spot (principle nom., I believe) and receive an offer in the mail next week. I really wasn't expecting any news until the 24th or 26th, but I can't complain!!!

General college admissions suggestion: get your other college interviews and such done before "news time" because I have an interview weekend and it's going to be hard to do a poker face (because I kind of want to go to West Point)!

Also (for Darmy17 and others), my portal has not changed after receiving this information. I believe my Rep's Chief of Staff got the word early and decided to go ahead and inform me. But I've also heard of the portal lighting up before the phone call--so I think it depends on the way your state gov does things.

Congratulations Christiano241! It is such an honor to receive an appointment and I hope you have success making the right choice with your decision! :thumb:
