Hi, I'm currently a candidate for the class of 2015. I plan to have 3 - 4 letters of recommendations for my nomination sources before the school year is over, so I can complete the bulk, if not all, of my application in the summer.

How many teacher evaluations does USMA and USAFA request and when will they be available to be submitted?

Its typically two teachers, a math and english teacher and then one outside source (i.e employer, coach, etc.). Let these respective teachers no know about your intentions and get their emails so you can have them done over the summer (most likely around July).

Is there a limit? I will include my English and Math teachers along with my club advisor, but I wish to include another teacher also.

They arent traditional recommendations, they are forms supplied by usma your teachers fill out. You pick one english teacher, one math teacher, and one chemistry/physics teacher.

This. It is all online. You never see the forms. You simply put in the teachers e-mail and then I assume the form is mailed to them, they fill it out, and it is returned via e-mail. As courtesy though I made asked for permission before listing the teachers e-mails. Of course they said yes but it was a good heads up none-the-less.

I believe though that the English, math, and science teacher are supposed to be your Junior year teachers.

Thank you. I will have my Physics, Math, English, and Biology Teachers and Club Advisor all write letters. The first three will also fill out the evaluation.
Is the evaluation process different with USAFA?

I don't know. You probably won't need that many letters. My congressman asked for two. Three max. With so many kids submitting noms less might be more. You want to be remembered for the quality of your letters. Not the kid with 20 different recommendations that had to be read through.

Would it be fine if I include just teachers then?
I have a better relationship and they know me more positively than my coach or other individuals.

You need to do exactly what the instructions say whether it's your MOC or West Point. One of my kid's MOCs didn't ask for letters of recommendations, in fact, all of the applications were different. One asked for essays, others didn't. They (or their staffers) are reading hundreds of applications and know exactly what they want to see. As BAJohnson said, don't be that kid with the 20 letters of recommendation. And he's right again....less is more.

Last year USMA asked for 1 Math, 1 English, 1 Chem or Physics. USAFA only asked for 1 Math, 1 English.

On the teacher recommends, must the teacher be from your junior year? Because my freshman year english teacher is an ex navy seal, and I feel I left a better impression on him.

No; s long as you had them in HS, it is okay.

Regarding the Teacher Evaluations, I understand that the evaluations must be from an English, Math, and lab science teacher, but are these evaluations like letters of recommendations? or do you just submit the teachers' contact information and then Admissions will contact the teacher?

and when does this become available online?

You will give USMA their contact info, and USMA will send your teachers the evaluations forms.
