My DS received a letter saying he was waitlisted for the Class of 2017...does anyone know what this means or did anyone else get one as well? Thanks!

My guess is that is is more than likely it's not a "waitlist" rather 3Q letter. 3Q letter tells an applicant that he or she is full qualified but there is no vacancy to appoint against. So a way, it's a "waitlist" but not really. It's not abormal depends how efficient your RC is to get a 3Q letter.

DS also received a letter stating the Admissions Committee has qualified his file and he is on the NWL until appointments are made. He received his letter October 4th. I am not sure what kind of weight this letter holds, but in the meantime he is preparing for congressional interviews and continuing to take the ACT/SAT. Anyone else know?

NWL

The SAF for WP has been unusually quiet compared to last year. But things are much different with very few LOAs and no rolling admissions. Trying to predict behavior for WP will be tricky. You must remember, any information on SAF is third hand and there is no official rep here. Although I believe they monitor the SAF site.

NWL is for applicants who are 3q'd and have or either waiting to receive a nom. They are fully qualified. Now its just a matter of waiting to receive a TWE or the BFE. You should certainly continue to update your file with higher ACT and SAT score and awards received from now until the deadline. This will help with the WCS.

Keep in touch with your RC and his office. Don't pester them they have several states to deal with. And keep in contact with your respective FFR.

OK, thanks for the info all who replied. I couldn't find anything online and we were confused. He is interviewing this next week with 2 of our MOC, so we shall see. He does have a Presidential and JROTC nomination. I will keep you updated after my son calls his admissions counselor on Tuesday.

Oh okay...

That makes a difference, if your son has a prez nom with a service connect, this is why you heard so early. It is my opinion, your DS is in a good position. Remember most appointments will be made late February this year. Last year during this time we had several posts of appointments with prez noms. But again this year is very different. There may be exceptions if we hear about appointments early on SAF. Continue to excel in ACT and SAT scores to increase your WCS.

And the wait begins....

My DS also has Presidential Nom/service connection, so this must be why some have rcv'd the 3-Q letter regarding NWL??

Pres Nom but no NWL letter

DS has a Presidential nomination but no nwl letter. DS called MALO couple of days ago and was told his file is still very strong even though in IMO DS should bring up his CR (590) score in SAT. His math is 770 with 4.67 and 3.83GPA. DS informed MALO that he received AROTC scholarship from first board and was told that was very good but other than that DS has not received or heard anything. I know there are over 12 candidates interviewing from our district. He has his first MOC interview next Saturday. My husband (USMA

@hmza....that Math score is really good! Sounds like you have a pretty competitive district though. We are from a small state and a very small district, so maybe that is the difference. I wouldn't worry too much if I were you, but I know that is hard as a mom :thumb:

hmza

The waiting is the most difficult. I completely understand. I too have no finger nails left, due to worrying.
