Our DS was accepted to USMAPS and we are thrilled. The information that he is sharing with us about Reception Day is from 2020. Does anyone know if they will be updating the information for 2021 dates soon?

Congrats to your DS! I also noticed the dates in my Admit kit/portal were still from 2020. Looking forward to hearing more info soon.

You’ll eventually see a packet on the portal with dates, requirements, packing lists etc. congratulations!

Congrats! Our DS accepted his appointment to USMAPS for this year also! Got the same packet with 2020 dates in it and saw where the portal says more info to come. BUT he showed me a document sent from WP to the National Guard with instructions for them and in it I *think* a date I saw was potentially R-Day. But I'm waiting to be sure. We are planning travel with him before he goes so we are looking forward to getting that information as well. Congrats again. What an exciting, proud time!

How did your DS/DD receive the info that they have been selected for USMAPS? My son recently received the TWE although he was on NWL. His SAT score was a 1280 otherwise a pretty strong candidate, does it make any sense at all that he reach out to his FFR or RC and show that he would be thrilled to go the prep school route if deemed a suitable candidate. Or it game over and try again in the next cycle from ROTC. Congrats to the DS above!

My DS received an appointment letter in the portal.

Our DS received an offer of appointment to USMAPS in his portal today, and will accept. His older brother is a past USMAPS grad, and is currently a Cow (third year) at USMA. His year at USMAPS was a good experience for him, as he had never lived away from home before and was provided plenty of structure. Most of his best friends at USMA are kids from his time at USMAPS - including many of the athletes whom he goes to watch compete on weekends.

Looking forward to meeting you all later this summer.

Can USMAPS or prep school scholarship still be offered if a TWE is received for a direct appointment to USMA?

Those offered appointment to USMAPS typically get a TWE. From my experience only a handful of the USMAPS appointees are "regular students" who are not prior service or recruited athletes. From what I understand they were not 3Q, but during the admissions process it was thought that they could benefit from a year at prep to fix the hole in their file...typically academics.

I can understand the USMAPS for enlisted and athletes, but no idea of clear logic and criteria for the "regular students". So if you are academically academically Q but still TWE, then you would have less chance to the USMAPS comparing to the less academically Qed ones?

So if an applicant is 3Q with a very strong file and they don’t make the cut, their chances for USMAPS are almost nothing?

This is not completely true. I got into USMAPS, non recruit and non prior, and was told I was 3Q. My Math ACT score was a 23 and that was what they were iffy on, but my ACT superscore(28) is higher than most prepster that I have talked with this year. Also, coming from an educationally low rated school, they thought prep would be best for me. It definitely was and I cannot wait for USMA later this summer.

I personally never got a TWE and I was selected for prep exactly a year ago. Academics is not everything... a well rounded profile makes your WCS strong.
