Good Evening,

Today I recently got an offer to USMAPS class of 2023, however I will be 22 years old (born June 29, 2000) on July 1st, 2022. My regional commander has told me that I'm young enough, too it does matter and you'll have to shoot for direct admittance, too it's fine again.

I would like to ask for some clarification before I accept the offer on my portal. What is the maximum age limit for cadet candidates to enroll into the prep school? Again, by the time July 1st, 2023 comes around I'll be 23 years old by two days

The official website has conflicting answers. It both says that you can be 23 and 22 years old for R day

"First of all, you must be a United States citizen, at least 17 and not yet 23 years of age on July 1 of your year of admission"

"Soldiers, like all candidates must not be older than 23 years of age on July 1st of the year entering West Point (22 on July 1 of the year entering the Prep School)."

I would follow the advice of your Regional Commander. He will not mislead you.

I’d think that the US Army USMA who has made an offer for you to attend their prep school would know if you would be able to attend SA after prep at your age. After all the SA is the only reason to have a prep school.

I have read here on these forums that there are age wavers for AD If needed. I know nothing about them. But as I understand it those are not age wavers for prep but for the SA

And right now you would not need one for a SA

If you were my S or D and they were unsure and asked me this question . I might say as a father——don’t ask. You got the answer you wanted get ready for prep school.

Do I think any SA would turn down a prior with passing grades etc at prep school for waver after they invited them to attend if they needed one.?

Nope
