Are you ready for another "what-do-you-think-about-my-CFA-scores" post? If you're not, then too bad.

First CFA Results:

B-Ball Throw: 56 ft
Pull-ups: 9
Shuttle Run: 9.1
Sit-ups: 66
(Insert cliff and me falling off of it)
Push-ups: 46
1-Mile Run: 9:45

I don't like making excuses, but I'm going to do it anyway. It was below freezing when I ran it and the person who administered it said he'd note the temperature with my scores.

How are they? I know the push-ups and the 1-Mile Run are a bit under the average, so don't rip on me too hard please. Thanks in advance.

I would guess the run is too slow, and BB throw, push-ups, and sit ups are below the averages I've seen for USNA and USAFA, however I'm not sure about USMMA. If the scores are failing and you are given an opportunity to retake, you will hopefully have some time to train. Every little bit helps, especially with pushups and sit ups. I improved push ups from 60-75 in two weeks by doing a bunch of sub-maximal effort sets throughout the day(i.e. 10 sets of 25, doing 1 set every hour so you aren't fatigued). Hopefully the run time was due to temperature, as drastically improving run times usually takes longer. BB throw is all about technique. Plus, remember that CFA is not the only part of the app. You can search and find people on this forum who were accepted to SA's with less than stellar CFA's. If i'm correct, CFA is more like a pass/fail test in terms of admissions, so you probably wouldn't need to improve scores so drastically

sit-ups, pull ups, shuttle run should be ok.

As stated above I would focus on the others. Not sure where the cutoff is.

On a normal day, my average mile time is 8 minutes.

8 min/mile won't hack it at KP.

I would guess that they allow the standards for the CFA to be a little lower then what is required at school with the idea being you have time to get in to better shape. The standards for a male KP midshipman <21 years old are an 11 min mile and a half, which means you need to be at a 7:20 mile pace.

i'm no expert but they look low to me. I went with my DS and he took first time -did okay but did not send in. He treated it as a practice run and was dissapointed. on BB he lifted his knee twice and was Dq. He worked out doing the activities, practiced BB throw and took again -maxed out on three of the 6. Get into a routine and you'll find a marked improvement with some time. If your applying for next year you are ahead of game with plenty of time to improve. Good luck.
