Completely jumping the gun without an appointment but here goes....
Competitive rowing is the boy's love. However, the fellas that he stayed with on an overnight back in the fall encouraged him to play hockey in the off season (if he is blessed with an appointment.) We are from New England I have often said that if you don't play hockey you don't have friends. I never played organized $$$ hockey but I was a "walk on" ice hockey player in college (goalie). He has never played "organized" either, but, like me, he has played pick up since he was 5. He would love to play but I wonder how competitive it is? Any insight would be much appreciated. (I know he's now lurking. You are speaking to him as much as you are to me - so fire away!)
