USMMA Indoc day prep

I sent the email to the address in the manual; BEMUSSMA@nexweb.org.

Last year we didn't get any email response that our emailed order was received. I did have to call and speak with someone to confirm. Not a great system but was hoping it got better over the past year. Give them a while to sort through all the emails as it is a laborious process and also see who the current contact is at NEX and direct your calls/emails to that person. :p

@cousmma5280 Store Manager is no longer Lane Weissman. That's why email doesn't work. See Logging In 2022 for new name and email.[/QUOTE]

Sorry I was looking at the 2018 Logging In Book
I recommend calling the NEX (516) 726-6177 to check on your order

Is there a form for pre-ordering the Engineering Educational Items kit as well? The only forms emailed were for the Personal Items, Laptop & Laptop Accessories, and Personal Gear.

I believe that is bought after the first trimester when you choose deck or engine

Our DS (2021) purchased his Educational Items Kit from the NEX around September. Deck Kit was $165, Engine was $120. Call or email the NEX around that time to order.

Me, back with another question. . . for the NFCU, is he able to apply for a credit card through there too?

Basically healthy snacks like granola bars, nuts, and trail mix (without chocolate) as opposed to candy and chips. Your experience will vary by company as to how strict they are with snacks. Also, your plebe will have a small private drawer that the upperclassmen cannot look into (unless there is a drug/alcohol issue) that has room for unhealthy snacks. If your plebe is on a sports team, there may be other good spots for concealment of non-approved snacks. My DD craved fresh fruit (types not available in Delano) and occasional Hershey bars, but also appreciated Cup 'o Noodles and Ramen for when she missed dinner because of sports. Let your DS/DD guide you on what is okay within their company.

Found the "approved" list from last year:

Bagel
Muffin (low sugar)
Raw veggies
Popcorn
Juice box
Nuts
Dried fruit
Trail mix (without candy)
Low-fat cookies
Graham crackers
Raisin bread
Cheese sticks
Fresh fruit
Fig bars
Cereal (low sugar)
Granola bar
Pretzels
Peanut-butter crackers

Yes he can. If you can go the day before Indoc NF will have a pop-up for that purpose and less crazy. They will get the CC to him during Indoc or soon after. They will not have much time to go to the NEX during Indoc but some cash will work. My DS still has his debit card from HS and it’s was he uses mostly. I monitor it closely and it’s used for food when needed.

Question about luggage on day 1 of INDOC. Is the bag my DS will be carrying for his personal items be dropped off at some point in the gym and taken to his room/dorm? Or does he come back for it and take it himself? In the videos of past classes you see them carrying their bags in, but do not come out with them.

The luggage is stored, and they get access to it again after indoc. It's natural for you to be concerned, but I would stop thinking about the logistics. The logistics of indoc are 100% thought out by people who have decades of experience. The academy has been doing indoc for 70 years. Everything will be taken care of.

He will have access to his bag with personal items the first day of Indoc and there is a well orchestrated Indoc flow that will ensure it'll get to him and his room. As @Mr2020 says, KP has been doing this for years and you really don't need to worry about it.

My DS is wanting to know if it is ok for him to bring a picture frame with to INDOC. I assume it is a picture his girlfriend gave him as a gift.

You've got to be kidding me. . .No, he will not have any personal items at indoc. Indoc is a small preparation for sea, where you can go months without exchanging more than an e-mail with your family or girlfriend. Really shouldn't be thinking about that at this point. I know a whopping zero people who have the same girlfriend they had in high school. he can probably bring it with him to use after indoc.

Your indoc book will tell you what you can and cannot have. A bible. Religious materials. And I think a small frame. But check your papers. And, girlfriends can help and hurt. They can help you through it. But can also cause you to want to leave. There is a 1 percent club. 1 percent will keep the girlfriend. Talk to your ds about the realities of gf not being around. Get him ready for it. Then when it ends be ready to provide the support.
