USNA 175th Anniversary Today 10/10/2020

.
Does the Brigade do anything special today in remembrance of this date?

I just retexted daughter, USNA 2024, of today’s special significance. She was really down last night because of her most recent poor ProKnow score, something they have to study in addition to their classroom academics .... I don’t know what ProKnow is, but it seems important to her.

DS reported that last night's ProKnow was a tough one. ProKnow is also important to my DS - I think the company puts some pressure on them regarding their performance....

Yep! Same report from my Mid who I FaceTimed with. And there were a bunch of mids in his room all talking about how tough it was!

@Dr. Strange Love
Professional Knowledge. Brigade-wide in-company training on all aspects of Navy and Marine culture, organizations, equipment, weaponry, missions, etc. It’s endless. Weekly assignments and quizzes. Pressure to pass, company attention if you don’t. Acronym-rich. And if you have never been exposed to it, it can be overwhelmingly strange. Handling this along with a heavy academic load plus other plebe duties, required sports and untold voluntold opportunities, makes for a pressure cooker of an existence.

At OCS, where all this is crammed into a few months (but no college work) along with other military-centric classes, I recall memorizing ship visual profiles by making flash cards, ditto for signal flags, OOD inport quarterdeck protocols... ProKnow is a yawning abyss of information that is like drinking from the end of a fire hose. Painful. Your new best friend is the prior enlisted in the room next door.

Definitely N*ot College.
