Hi Everyone. There are several other threads where USNA applicants and PUs (Parental Units) are posting about the waiting process for USNA. One is on the appointment thread and one, "The Waiting Game", is a USAFA thread. I thought we should have own waiting thread. Especially since it seems as if USNA is the furtherest behind. Please give updates as you get them. Tell if you have an LOA waiting on medical, expect that you are 3Q and waiting to hear back, have a conditional appointment, etc... I know USAFA had the "Insider" that let them know when to expect the big drops. Maybe there is someone on the board that is a USNA "Insider". Anyway, I thought it would be fun to speculate while we wait, and most all, support each other!

I'll start... DS, with Nom, no LOA, expect that he is 3Q, waiting on any word.

DS with Nom, No LOA, expect that he is 3Q. Also still waiting on AFROTC scholarship news, as that was delayed until the end of March. He is handling the wait much better than us. USNA doesn’t seem to be speeding up, so we’re expecting to wait a while still.

Havent seen a USNA insider, like USAFA has. At least if they are here, they haven’t posted as such. Quite a few BGO’s here, and we have received a few updates pertaining to portal issues, and the way medical is being done this year (a little different than prior years). I think that’s all you are going to get along those lines.

‘By April 15th is the notification date’, despite the extended application deadline, and that’s right around the corner! And then a few more funnels through the waitlist. Last year, those active on the SAF, and on the late waitlist, made a private message group. We kept on touch, and ultimately two of our kiddos were appointed. We are still good friends!!

The forum is waiting and watching along with you. Hang in there. Wishing y’all positive emails in the weeks that come 💯🙌

DS/No LOA/believe 3Q (senate nom from IL) ; waiting on NROTC too; is now full-steam ahead with Plan C - college programmer @ Illinois (studying Engineering)..... so thankful for SAF & the encouragement to tend to alternative plans. DS is in touch w/ Battalion - they are very responsive. It’s been fun to get behind a plan - even though I think he’d take USNA over it. We are even going on an unofficial college visit! Good luck 🍀 to you all!

Trying to get serious with plan B - Aero Engineering @ Illinois. Also trying to be distracted with her team preparing for national competition :)
Thank you for posting this! The waiting is tough and it’s so helpful to hear from other parents and kids.

DS/no LOA/ believed to be 3Q (MOC nom from TX)
Working at staying positive and not giving into feelings of discouragement as the days pass by and many others receive appointments. Accepted into a prestigious school of Engineering as plan B, but still really praying for USNA. After over a year of preparation of documents for the application, the waiting with nothing left to do is difficult. Good luck to everyone!

Great hearing from everyone so far. Makes me feel better already knowing we are all going through this together. I will add that we are also waiting on plans B & C. D is in place. DS was offered the Commanders Scholarship for AFROTC at his plan D school where he has been admitted to their Engineering Department. That was a hard decision as he had to pull out of the National AFROTC competition were he could have used the scholarship at his B or C school. From what we hear though, AFROTC is cutting back on scholarship offers due to higher than expected Officer retention. Plus. he hasn’t been admitted to B & C yet as he applied regular decision and won’t know his status until the end of March. BUT, both of those schools have NROTC and he is still in the running for that scholarship as well. So, we are just waiting and....waiting!

p.s. We are from NC. All schools mentioned above are public in-state. Has an app in at Duke for good measure but even if he receives the NROTC scholarship I am not sure I would want to swing the Room & Board cost. It is almost double there what those State schools are.

My DS could be with your DD @ UIUC! Even though his first choice is USNA, it’s hard to complain about a school of that caliber for ENG. He’s Engineering-Undeclared. He’ll pick his focus 2nd semester. Good luck to your DD 🍀!

I’m glad to know others are in the waiting game too! I believe I’m academically and physically qualified, but I haven’t heard anything about my medical. I had the exam in early January and it’s not checked off in my portal but I’m medically qualified for USAFA so I’m not too worried. Is anyone else waiting for their medical status to be checked off?

Thanks for starting this thread! I was the one that took the appointment thread in the wrong direction.... 😬😂

DD/No LOA/Assume 3Q with nom

Hopefully appointments will start flooding in soon!! I know everyone is feeling pretty stressed with other decision deadlines approaching.
