USNA 2025 Waiting and....Waiting

My portal still says that USNA has not received my medical exam even though I completed my exam several months ago. I also have not received a TWE which means I am still in the running. Is anyone on the same boat as me? That their medical exam has not been received and they have not received a TWE.
Look at DoDMerbs site for medical information.

I was on the live chat today with USNA and was informed that if you have not received a decision yet that means you are still in the running for not only NAPS/foundation program but also for an appointment! A couple of days ago I was told differently by another rep so my hopes were a little down but this was extremely good news. We got about 11 days left to April 30. Fingers still crossed for an appointment! Have a good day everyone!

If by LOA you mean “letter of assurance,” this post is not accurate!

One can be deemed competitive and/or have a waiver requested without an LOA. An LOA is a conditional offer that guarantees appointment once the recipient fulfills some aspect of the application. That could be one of the 3 Qs (academics, medical, CFA) or some other fairly mundane or strange request (the case for my DD).

There have been a lot of posts lately stating something akin to the above excerpt, i.e. that an LOA is necessary to be deemed competitive and/or receive a medical waiver. Either the long-standing definition of LOA has mysteriously changed. Or a new term has been introduced that resembles a current one. Or folks are confused or misled. Or people are making things up, whether intentionally or not. Weird.
Ok, I am now very confused. I have to get a waiver through DODMERB, can I begin that process before hearing from USNA?

Yes and no. You cannot receive an appointment from USNA without being 3Q (and having a Nom). The 3 Qs are: Scholastic (grades, test scores, ECAs, etc.), Physical (Passing the CFA) and being medically qualified. If a waiver is required to be medically qualified then the commissioning source, the SA or ROTC service) determines if a waiver is granted or not. The only way you would hear "ahead of time" is if USNA issues an LOA. If an LOA is given it will determine what is needed in order for that to be turned into an appointment. Most candidates will never know if they are 3Q or not during the process. USNA does not issue a 3Q letter like USMA does. A candidate will know 2 of the 3 Qs... you know if you pass the CFA and will know if you are medically qualified. If you receive an LOA, it means you are scholastically qualified. Hopefully that makes sense.

Ok, this is exactly what I needed to hear and what I had previously meant in regards to the LOA. Going forward, I am in need of a medical waiver. Should I expect an LOA or a conditional appointment? I apologize to everybody for the confusion I may have caused and I am blessed to have y'all here for clarification.

You would expect a conditional offer of appointment.

My DS who reapplied this year was notified he was on the waitlist on Tuesday and on Friday they gave him conditional appointment. He needs to get medical waiver. Hopefully this will come through. He got the waiver last year for NROTC scholarship but not sure how it all works with DoDMERB and waiver authority. Congratulations to all of you who did get appointments and to those who did not get appointments don’t give up. You all are qualified and accomplished fine young men and women with a lot of character.

Another day of waiting. I am currently in a different country so the 6 hour time change is making things a little easier ( no refreshing email ever 5 minutes at night) praying for myself as well as all of you. I may be running out of hope... but...DONT GIVE UP THE SHIP!!!!!!!!

My DS is one of those still in limbo, waiting on a decision. Has dreamed of attending the academy since he was 9 years old after his first visit to the yard. STEM camps, Wrestling Camps, Summer Session, always stayed the course. Tonight he informed me that he wanted his plan B to be his plan A and will be joining the ROTC unit at Notre Dame. I’m proud of him deciding for himself what he wanted out of his college experience and having the courage to steer course from what he always thought was his dream. Dreams change (heck I always wanted to be a Doctor until I took Organic Chem in pre-med) and having the courage to follow a different path takes a lot at 17 years old. I’m still anxious for the decision, he put so much work into this for years. I always told him if he strove for the Academy if he didn’t make it he would set himself up for other great options instead. Just never thought he would choose one of those other amazing options. Go Navy and Go Irish!
