Hello, I am curious if anyone knows the exact date of when the application opens for the class of 2029. I submitted my summer seminar application back in February, which I will gratefully attend in session one in June, and I know that will serve as the preliminary application. I am curious if the application portal is open because the website says it will open in April. If it is, how do I access the portal? I am excited to truly start this journey and here's hoping it will be successful!

Last year (for c/o 2028) it was July 15th. Not sure it is posted anywhere yet for c/o 2029.

You can request information here: https://usna.govfa.net/217914
(probably gets you on a mailing list)

Application deadline to submit candidate controlled input is almost always January 31 of the application year.

I think you've got time. ;)

Also, I’m pretty certain the April date is referring to the preliminary candidate questionnaire (PCQ) to open and not the full application. If you applied to NASS, you should not fill out the PCQ, as the NASS application counts for that. Historically, the full application has opened anywhere between May and June.

Glad to know I have plenty of time to attempt to have the most competitive application possible. Time management is an extremely important favor to success. Time will allow me to maximize my quality. I am predominately focussing on the CFA as of right now as I will be able to take it soon. Thank you everyone so much for the help; I am glad to know I have a lot of experienced people on my side.

I don’t remember exactly when it opened last year. My mid also attended summer seminar, and it was after summer seminar that registration opened up. My advice, once the portal opens, take care of everything you can during your summer break, it’s a lot easier to focus on your application when you don’t have to worry about homework and school load. Also, do your medical early on, a lot of people wait towards the end of the fall, and dodmed gets backup. Best of luck, enjoy summer seminar, and build relationships while you are there :)

The preliminary questionnaire opened April 19th last year. (at least that's when I completed it.)

It'll ask you about the general info,

Name, Address, SAT?, School?, and if you'd like to be recruited for a sport. If yes to the last part, you'll receive another form about which sports, coaches recommendation, and and highlights if I'm remembering correctly. (It's been a year.)

Official CIS application portal opened June 13th. You have time! My recommendation will be to alert your teachers about recommendation letters. They weren't long, took my teachers about 10-20 minutes. Prepare for the CFA, stay active, stay hydrated, and present the best application package so that Annapolis can't say no to you!!

I should probably work on the recommendation letters. The school has a whole process for that.

This was recently posted by USNA..Looks like preliminary application opens tomorrow 9am.

If you are going in as a re-applicant, most of your data should already be populated.

And this is just the "preliminary" app.

random question, but do you think I should start seeking nominations already for next year? Since I don't have to reapply-just need noms

As a foundation, you do not need to complete the application? I am not 100% familiar with the process going that route.

Most MoCs do not open their nomination application pages for the new year until later, I believe. They may not have the stuff for '29 open to you yet, but your MoCs may vary. I'd reach out directly to the staffers who run the nomination process to find out. And, of course, let them know you are a Foundation candidate when you interview.
