I'm intending on joining the USNA and I would like to know if you have to play a school sport or if it is the same playing a sport outside of school?
 
I would just put your accomplishments with the sports and say that it's not a school sport/ how long you've been doing it for/ any awards you've won.

Gcramer789, it might be more helpful if you go to the USNA designated portion of the site for future USNA questions. While most people can answer some questions here, the people in that part of the forum will probably be more helpful.
 
To the OP, my Plebe was home schooled, played rec soccer and baseball for years, but had no varsity letter as he played no school sports. He did get to be team captain in his junior year for the rec soccer team and was coach's assistant in his senior year. I think that helped. His coach wrote a great letter of recommendation. We sent that to the MOCs.
