USNA Admissions FAQs -- "What Are My Chances"

Another chance me thread. CFA excellent. All else look standard with incomplete info. What you can control, your best bet is to meet and exceed last Annapolis class average from the USNA Profile in every category. What you cannot control, pray no one or more is better than you in your district.

Exactly!!! Thank you!

DS received a conditional LOA. Was DQ medically. You mention in the QA that there is someone at USNA admissions that addresses medical waiver questions. Should DS contact that person directly to discuss next steps?

See the FAST thread at the top of the DoDMERB forum.

There is also someone at USNA who handles medical questions. However, that person is on long-term leave. Thus, I suggest the candidate f/u with the Admissions rep.

DS 7th semester grades were sent today. Positive improvements in all areas. Moved Class rank to 9/189. Non weighted GPA is 3.93 and weighted 4.35, Dec SAT improved to a 1310 - 660 math 650 English.
Retook the CFA
74’ BT
17 PU
8.1 SR
Max PU 100
Max SU 80
Mile 5:52

lots of items on the sports and Volunteer sections. All math, physics and science were AP classes.

Hope DS is competitive in his slate or NWL. Now it’s just a waiting game. 🤞🏼🤞🏼
Awesome. Great CFA scores. Good luck to him.

If an appointment is made via the portal, will it show up on the home page replacing “Application Submitted” or will it appear somewhere else like the “My Progress” tab? Not checking my DS’s portal multiple times a day or anything- just asking for a friend 😜

You are looking at the CIS (candidate information system) which will not show any portal changes or decisions. You have to use the “new portal” to see changes or decisions. It is currently having issues with logging in but there is a way to bypass the issue. On a computer (haven’t been able to do this on my phone), open a tab and log in to the CIS: https://usnacandidate.force.com/cis/s/
then open a new tab while keeping the CIS open and log in to the “new portal”: https://usnacandidate.force.com/OnlineApp/TargetX_Portal__PB#/
Hope that helps!

Yes, it did. Thanks so much!

I am not sure if anyone is able to answer this, but how many candidates are on a slate?

No need to apologize at all. This forum usually doesn’t leave people hanging for long.

Since you’re interested in the nom process, here is some original source reading at the link below. Of course, all the SA websites except USCGA also have nomination info sections.

If I am getting this right, someone who has a nomination from an MOC is put on a slate with 9 other people who have a nomination from that same MOC, and the candidate with the highest WCS is given the appointment?

Can you explain to me how the slate system works?
Also check your individual nominating sources for their specific requirements/process.

Keep in mind, the nomination and appointment application processes run parallel to each other. They are sperate…
