USNA admissions- what are the chances

Regarding allergy that we are concerned milk as common food

When dealing with medical issues, it is important to keep terminology straight. The first step is DODMERB, who either qualifies or disqualifies. If someone is disqualified, for USNA purposes, a waiver request is automatic (the candidate need not do anything to request the waiver).

USNA then determines whether it can / will waive that condition for that candidate. That's an individual determination. If the condition is waived and the candidate is o/w qualified, s/he can be appointed. If the condition is not waived, the candidate will be turned down.

My guess is that a connective tissue disorder would be disqualifying. No clue whether it could be waived. You'll only know if you go through the process. When medical issues are involved, be practical and DEFINITELY pursue options where medical qualification is not required.

From DODMERB:
m. History of any structural connective tissue disease including, but not limited to, EhlersDanlos syndrome, Marfan syndrome, Pseudoxanthoma Elasticum, relapsing polychondritis, and osteogenesis imperfecta.

I am not a Doctor and don't play one on tv, but I would tell my kiddo to apply if they really wanted this, and make them tell you no. Even if it ends without a waiver or an appointment, it is a very maturing process to go through. Much to be gained in terms of personal growth.
