Hello, I have applied to USNA c/o 2025, and I have everything submitted except for the medical examination (currently sending in remedials), and my application status is currently "under review". Does this mean I will know about my acceptance sooner than later? I realize I am not 3Q yet, I was just wondering if I could find out if I am in before I am medically qualified.

You would be able to find out if you were offered an appointment without being medically qualified with an LOA.

You have to be medically qualified before an appointment is given. You can get an LOA that would be contingent on being medically qualified.

How long does it typically take from the time that you submit to the time that the board will process the application?

Asked every candidate, ever. ;)

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it. You could be Complete Pending Review for months, or you could be reviewed this week and still be CPR for a month or two, while they are building the class and sending out offers.

I know...that is of no help whatsoever.

they can review application but you may not get notice of appointment or TWE until months later

My son has applied for the USNA. He was fortunate enough to even receive the principal nomination. He is very excited and the portal seems to be updated with everything either processed or pending. The only concern he has is that we live in California and has not been able to submit an ACT or SAT score. Although he has submitted all the dates he has signed up for, he has not been able to test. His most recent test for March has been cancelled as well. He has not heard anything back yet regarding his standing. Any advice to give to help his chances?

He should go onto the USNA Admissions Chat and ask them.

Concur about going to USNA Admissions Chat. In the initial greetings, type DS name and Candidate Number. Then ask the question. Most likely, the LT/admissions counselor will take you to a private chat room. I think PSAT is the alternate for SAT. Hope this helps.

Appreciate everyone's help so far. I am hopeful to be medically qualified by the end of the week!

Hopefully they will be able to use his PSAT score. The whole testing thing has been a major headache. We drove 300 miles to take the test (we are in the Midwest) and there were even a few students from the East Coast on who combined the testing date with their family vacation. Good luck to your son!

My understanding, based on the 19Oct2020 USNA Admissions Brief, is that for this application cycle USNA is SAT/ACT test flexible (encourage applicants to try to take the SAT/ACT, and if unable then provide written documentation on why the applicant couldn't take the test). Fortunately, my DS had already taken and done well on two ACTs prior to the pandemic.
