USNA Approved Female hairstyles

That sure helps women with more texture to their hair to have options. Glad I don’t have to know every detail anymore and enforce them. That matrix of what and when takes the complexity to a whole new level.

I think the only thing that hits my eye wrong - and just because it’s been so much one way for decades and decades, is the long hair down in dinner dress.

But - as we know, doesn’t matter how long you served or how long you’ve been out, uniform and grooming regs will always be debated.

Poor men - no equal opportunity once again for earrings, longer hair, skirts, heels, etc. Yes, yes, joking here.

@NavyHoops - would you consider creating a Sticky for the video, since it’s primary source material? We would always know where to send people for the inevitable questions.

Thanks to @Trackgirl1999 for sharing. The visuals will be a great help all around.

I've heard that when a female supervisor wishes to remind a female subordinate of their respective positions, the supervisor will directly comment/question the subordinate's hairstyle if it's in regulations. It's a thing that girls do as guys either don't know/care to enforce female hair regs. Fighter pilots, on the other hand, always have perfect hair...;)

Any former Marines ever visit Jon's Back Gate Barber Shop outside of Camp Lejeune? My son & I got "flattop"haircuts there once...very short, very quick, & very friendly.

*ahem*

"former" or "ex" when applied to Marines, implies "dead". Now some will tell you that the Marines who received a big chicken dinner (or worse) are "former", but what I learned was "once one, always one, until yer ded" ;)

As for the barber shop, I have never heard of it. Last time I was anywhere near there was 1986, however.

I spent more time with the Marines than most Marines ever did. Was stationed at Lejeune part of the 70s, 80s, and 90s, and went back for training and other things in the 2000s. I sometimes looked like a jarhead and sometimes there was no doubt I was a squid. The only time I got my ears lowered at Jon’s was after I retired and was visiting DS when he lived in Snead’s Ferry. Nice establishment.

Glad everyone approves of the video. This video was the result of issues on I-day at the barbershop regarding how females could wear their hair(the Commandant resolved it). Hopefully the future females Plebes will have no problems with hairstyles.
