Actually that's not the best way to look at your situation. There are up to 670 slates submitted each year by MOCs/VP. Total class enrollment is about 2X that number, so only half of the class "wins" their slate. The other half come from a national pool of qualified, nominated candidates. Once you are on the NWL, it doesn't matter which slate you came from originally. You can be appointed and then charged somewhere else other than the MOC who nominated you. It is common for multiple candidates from the same district, especially the more "competitive" ones, to receive appointments. Keep the faith and best wishes.
 
The point is, that there can be anyone reading posts here: the mom of an upperclassman/woman who is in a leadership role. And then someone vents here. It’s not too difficult to figure out a connection to a squad depending on the the information stated (and presumably over the years if they sticks around the forums...). Then info CAN get back to people that can make a Mids life more difficult. A Detailer could easily make summer a little extra challenging on a whiny, complaining plebe who cries on the forums, for example.

That’s an example of why maintaining anonymity is best practice. However, it’s up to you for sure!!

When a person’s district information is combined with other information posted on the forum (such as being male/female, a basketball player, first team all-conference golf player, Eagle Scout, etc.) it can be rather easy to determine a candidates identity. It has happened before in our experience here. There’s a lot more information available than just a screen name and that is why we recommend not identifying which district you are from. It narrows it down too much.

As members of the Plebe Summer Detail (Detail = military work group with a specific task), detailers are the kindly midshipmen who will motivate you in a delightfully energetic fashion throughout the summer and turn you over to the returning Brigade in August.
 
If I were a detailer, I would make a project of compiling a profile on every appointee based on little tidbits from all over the web. Posts in this forum, parent Facebook pages, the appointees’ Snapchat and Insta, etc., can be pieced together like a puzzle. It could make the plebe summer a lot more entertaining for the detailers, and a great deal more challenging for the Plebe. Just for fun, of course.

My son told me that every single detailer and midshipmen were wonderful people! And I want everyone to know my boy is a good boy. Anything I said wrong should be used against me or preferably his mother. And not him. ;)
 
He hasn’t had plebe summer detailers yet. Or plebe Brigade training staff. I’m sure they are all wonderful people. But your son won’t know that. At least at times. It’s their job to put them out of their comfort zones. Push them to the edge. They are different than what your son has met thus far [emoji51]

That information wouldn’t necessarily be accurate. Admissions could move an appointment around, an appointment could ultimately end up elsewhere in order for admissions to get the class they want. I have read that one only knows where you are charged after it’s all said and done. My point, is that just because a congressperson has xx recoded appointments here on the forums, doesn’t necessarily mean no one else would receive an appointment. It’s a guess.

That’s aside from the biggest reason for not recording districts: to maintain anonymity here on the forums.

DD got congressional nom, then LOA, then senatorial nom, in that order. When she got the appointment she recieved a call from both the congressman and the senator. We have no idea who, or if, she was charged to either. In theory she could have been charged to national pool. I agree that anonymity is the 1st priority, but seing your district having an appointment would only cause undue stress. You would most likely assume you were out of the running and that is not true. Good luck!

(Just realized as a 5 year member you are probably not a part of this years agonizing wait, lol.)
 
I have always seen it done with what congressional district and it’s been helpful in the past but by no means am I saying it should be that way. I hear your point.
