USNA Class of 2025 Appointments Update-Entire-List-Yourself

Posting this because 1), it is a nice story, and 2), it shows appointments are starting to pop out of VA.
Great story indeed! She is from my hometown of Arlington, VA. I'm going to take that as a good omen for my DS as he awaits news in the Houston area. Good luck to all!

A word for those looking for the BFE - if covid history repeats itself - DS received appointment end of May. BFE arrived in early November. LOL I have a picture of him holding it in uniform at the academy.
Does that mean there is nothing in there they have to sign and return stating their acceptance?

Would you say if it hasn’t arrive in 2 weeks we should contact someone?
A little historical context - back when Dinosaurs roamed the earth (ie.. before internet, email. texts, etc), USNA Admissions decisions were sent by mail... If you were admitted, you got a Big Fat Envelope (BFE) , with alot of information. If decline, you got the Thin White Envelope (TWE) . We often use the terms BFE and TWE here to mean acceptance or decline, not necessarily the physical receipt of the document.

Nowadays, notice comes from the MOC or simply updated on your portals.--rendering actual receipt of the BFE more or less meaningless. You will eventually receive the BFE, with a Certificate of Appointment in wonderful plastic folder ; the first of a millions identical plastic folders you will receive in your Naval career --somewhere there is a landfill full of plastic binders and Skilcraft pens).

Bottom line -- don't worry about the BFE...it will get to you eventually.

I hear the creaking of the appointment catapult winding up!
.
When I think of “creaking”, I imagine the creaking and popping of fine wooden furniture, wooden case work and shelving, floors, walls, and rafters ... and for some reason, the poem, “Those Winter Sundays”, by Robert Hayden:

Those Winter Sundays

Sundays too my father got up early
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold,
then with cracked hands that ached
from labor in the weekday weather made
banked fires blaze. No one ever thanked him.

I’d wake and hear the cold splintering, breaking.
When the rooms were warm, he’d call,
and slowly I would rise and dress,
fearing the chronic angers of that house,

Speaking indifferently to him,
who had driven out the cold
and polished my good shoes as well.
What did I know, what did I know
of love’s austere and lonely offices?

Lovely. I do like poetry that creates a memorable word picture.

I will admit this prosaic image is more what I had in mind.
