USNA Class of 2026 Waitlist

Maybe I’m trying to be overly optimistic , but I thought the 1245 offered appointments for class of 2026 was lower than previous years . I can’t remember where I saw the stats posted , but I thought over 1300 were offered appointments last year and over 1400 the year before . DD is committed to Plan B and we are being realistic about the waitlist , but there is still that glimmer of hope .
Where did you see/hear of the number of 1245 for appointments?

Medical waivers were said to be clear, and just working their way through the system. He's waiting for that appointment button to show up, and he's hitting it fast!

The letter said how many appointments they offered, and how many they expect to accept. Then, if the number is less, they will pull off the list the best fit for the slate they need to fill. There is no ranking to the people on the waitlist. (All per their correspondence).

Boy - you sound just like me,.. I talked with DD last night and said - "you can still make it in!"
She just rolled her eyes and went back to her preparation for Plan B,.. I know she just doesn't want to get here hopes up again and then,..

Her older siblings and I talk about it when she isn’t around. She doesn’t even want to hear it. Already planning to reapply, she took the SAT last Saturday because she wants to get her verbal score up.

Don't give up the ship!

Personally, I was happy to be waitlisted - could be because I went through the 2025 application cycle and came out with a TWE, so anything besides another TWE was good news. I know the waiting is hard, especially when people are trying to move on and prepare for their first year of college, but the fact of the matter is it isn't a no until USNA tells you so. And if that's the answer, NROTC is a great opportunity for people seeking to pursue a commission during college. After all, an O-1 is an O-1 is an O-1. As I've been told many times this past year, no one will care where your commission came from.

My DD goes to a high school where no one applies to service academies or enlists. Our extended family doesn’t really understand the process either , so this forum has been great helping her navigate the process plus the support . I had to pick up hockey tickets last week and the woman who gave them to me asked me where my daughter was going to college. DD is planning on going to VMI . Out of the blue she asks me did she apply to a service academy . I told her yes but she is on the waitlist . This lady’s sister was pulled off the waitlist last year and she was telling me how she and her mom were running around trying to help her get everything in order before she had to report . It was just so strange because she is literally the only person in my area that I’ve met that even knew what a service academy was . She said not to give up hope.
