USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Anyone know of someone who got in with just a presidential nom at this point in the process? I got into USMA and USAFA with it but it was much earlier in the cycle.
If you look at the self-updating appointment list, it appears 6 of the first 7 reported appointments are Presidential noms.

Yes I saw that but after the end of last year I don't see anyone who was accepted with just a presidential nomination. The same applies for previous years appointment lists. Does USNA stop accepting people who only have a presidential nomination at some point in the cycle?

Does anybody know approximately how many more appointments are normally left at this point?

None of us know how many appointments are left. You can see last years appointee lists and see the patterns.

We also don’t know how may with Presidential Noms have appointed. It’s virtually impossible for us to know on the Presidential side. The reason you see so many early post is since Presidential’s are non-competitive and appointees will post with them as MOC slates aren’t done yet. Right now there could an appointee who received their’s in say OCT. Then they maybe got a MOC nom in Jan. USNA may decide to move them to the MOC slate and then that opens a Presidential slot. There are a million different scenarios.

Hang in there folks. I know it’s a tough wait. May there be appointments for all.

I hear that admissions may be extending the notification deadline from April 15th to early May? This may just be a rumor, especially since there are only so many appointment slots left. Hardly anyone from my state has heard back yet though.
Can someone please verify is they would do this or if they have in the past?

My son got into USAFA with only the presidential. He has MOC for USNA. When the Navy Admissions Counselor came to my son's high school she said that Navy hardly ever uses their full allotment of presidentials.

I would venture to say they all use their allotments of Presidentials. Usually there are around 700-800 applicants who qualify for Presidential Noms, but only 100 can be charged there. The other service connected noms and fleet allotments (Sec Nav) are rarely ever filled.

I believe that to be an unfounded rumor.

FACT: A week and a half ago, I attended a BGO Seminar with Admissions where we were told that they were "On or ahead of schedule for Mid-April"

As has already been said, USNA might offer an appointment to someone with a Presidential before their other noms are complete and then use their MOC or other nom to actually admit them.
For example, when my son was a candidate, he got notified of his acceptance in early December which was before our Congressman and Senators had submitted their slates. If we had announced his acceptance here at that time, we would have listed just the Presidential nom. Later in the cycle, he received both our Congressman and a Senatorial nom so USNA could have used any of those pools to admit him.
NOTE: I am an experienced BGO with decent connections within the yard and I do not know where his appointment was finally charged.

Seems like USNA is last to get appointments out. Based on data here and my son talked to a friend at his HS who applied for both USAF and USNA (pilot) and got appointed USAF but still no word from USNA. His first choice is USNA so he’s waiting to hear. My son’s only choice is USNA and still CPR. I had no idea the stress this would cause!:) I do think I should do taxes early to take my mind off it!!! Thanks for listening everyone!!

April 15 is an aspirational goal of informing the candidates they can inform. Some may still have pending medical. Some may not be through prep yet. Some they know they want, but as the numbers narrow down, they have to see what the “yield” is of acceptances vs. offers.

No news is good news. Until it isn’t.

This is not verifying because we have NO idea if that’s accurate but we heard that rumor too from the officer that called to let DD know she had the 4 year NROTC scholarship. He asked if we’d heard from USNA yet. We said no but only 3 weeks til April 15. He said “yeah… it might be end of April or even May”. Not sure where he got his info or if that’s true but I think Dodmerb melt down has at least USNA and USAFA behind. MOC offices (at least the two DD has noms for) said the same thing when we called- so far they’ve only heard back on their charged appt from USMA and not USNA or USAFA yet and historically, this is “later than they usually know”.

Remember someone could get waitlisted and be waiting beyond 4/15. The nerves and anxiety happen every year on this board around this exact time. I get it… I waited many moons ago also. Candidates for next year, please remember this thread and plan to wait until 4/15. If you hear sooner, even better.

DD was waitlisted on April 14 last year and was notified on May 19 that she received Foundation. There were also candidates that were notified they had been appointed off waitlist in late May last year . Hang in there everyone , I remember how difficult this was last year and I truly empathize with all still waiting .

We are in the same boat for DD! Her Plan B is fully in place and she is happy with it, but the waiting is hard - especially when doing taxes feels like a "fun" distraction, lol!! Good luck to your DS (and with your tax prep!!)!

Thank you for your comforting words NavyHoops. 4/15 still seems so far away.
