USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

May be a silly question...but is the admissions live chat feature still happening regularly? We have tried to jump in several times recently but it's always closed and no mention of hours. We tried the submit a question and they'll get back to you later option a while back as well and never got a response.

Does anyone know when the appoint letter is issued? My son has an LOA and his application is complete. I will appreciate any insights. Thanks.

I have done the same but could never join the chat.

It’s usually 12-1 EST business days. We had a recent post from someone in anther time zone who could not access, called Admissions, and there is some kind of obstacle to getting in from out of area. Seems odd to me, perhaps one of you could call and get an official answer.

If anyone keeps up with the discussion in the USAFA waiting thread, they are talking about how the doolie class (CO 2026) has lost around 150-200+ cadets since I-day. Does anyone here know how many have been lost in the plebe class?

Wow, 10% in 6 months?

Thanks for doing this so professionally! I scribbled the same thing yesterday in my “Get Stuff Done” book. I also thought I was a bit nuts for doing it but it seemed to put my mind at ease. My mind is now more at ease that y’all are doing it too (and doing a better job as well)! I think this has been the hardest for my son and the family. Not knowing is just hard! He wants to start the rest of his life and is so excited about it and really is in a standstill until he knows; just going through the motions. Luckily he’s done his NROTC for plan B and is keeping up with everything! Anyone have any tips for making it easier. I just keep ticking the days:)! Thank you for listening and for this forum and all the good folks posting to it! Good luck to you all and I hope to meet you and your amazing children on I-Day 2027!!!
I'm here for the tips to make it easier as well. OML---nothing like making this momma wait for news! I check his portals 2x a day, and then I spend a bit of time over here in SAF. Son seems cooler than I am--by far. I know he is anxious and excited bc he wants this so badly. However, he has a good plan B, C, & D. Come on April!

Sounds like an excellent job by the admissions team

Every year they lose people. I am asking my son his numbers at USNA - his class is down.

It is a fallacy to assume admissions made a mistake. How do we know that number would have changed significantly had admissions made different decisions?

I think covid ramifications might be at play for larger numbers.

Quick search on the google machine indicates 10% to 15% is average for USNA.

I know it is about 15% - not sure how it breaks down per year.
I have no stats to quote but I think the rate of loss slows down each year as life gets slightly better, except there might be a jump shortly before 2 for 7. And some classes have lost a chunk due to cheating on final exams, including just before their commissioning week 🙈. I think DH's class lost 6 or 7 that way.

You can add his name to the NAPS appointment list - not sure how to link that here, but search for the title NAPS offers 2022. And congratulations!!!
Congratulations!!!! Can you please let us know the way he was notified? It was an email or call ?

About 2 weeks after my son’s official appointment was in his portal, he received the letter/folder. Some have reported it takes longer or never even showed up. Nice keepsake and they sent it before he hit the accept button.

My DS just got a email from MOC congratulating him on being accepted to USNA 27 !!! I am crying until now… the attached letter from USNA says tomorrow he‘ll see in the system. My grandpa was a general in the Brazilian Army, my uncle was a Brigadier General at Brazilian Air Force, Stanford Professor, and now my son will be an officer at the US Navy. I am forever grateful to this amazing Country. GO NAVY !!! BEAT ARMY !!!
