USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Wow! Killed the CFA. Best of luck and hoping you can rest easy (or as much as possible) during these last few months regardless of how this plays out. You sound like a better candidate then I do XD. But then again, maybe I come from a less competitive area? Who knows. Either way sending good vibes your way!
You are welcome!! Thanks so much! XD Oh WOW...that is great!!🥳 Enjoy that countdown...wishing you the very best!!

I know in really competitive districts/states the MOCs coordinate so each candidate only gets one nom (my DSs in 10th VA is that way); that could be your case! I wish my DS had your situation; I just know you’ll be there I-day!;) sending extra good luck to you!!
Thank you!!:) Good luck to your son too!!!

I am one of these people with the >1500 SAT 35 ACT, etc...but only 1 nom and I am so discouraged. I understand they are working on a unique and quality class, but it doesn't help the discouragement of sitting CPR since 9/4/22. But despite it all, I am always happy to see someone get an appointment! It is very exciting! Keep 'em coming USNA!!
My DD also has high stats like you, GPA is near perfect with a lot of AP classes, great CFA scores, and is 100% healthy. Been CPR since November. She knows she needs to look at plan B as well. Waiting is TOUGH!!!!

A few questions for those in the know:
1. Do the portal appointment updates occur only weekdays or also on the weekends?
2. Do the updates occur during USNA business hours or day and night?
3. Is there always an email notification associated with a portal status update? (My DD just checks her email and rarely logs into her portal.)

Thanks in advance!
for #1 and 2, go to prior year ‘DIY’ threads, with your calendar beside you, and figure that out. I *believe* they happen outside of business hours. Especially later in the season. Or at least they can populate in the portal outside of normal hours. Keep in mind, there is a standard amount of time allowed for the SEN/REP to notify. If they choose to do that. So the appointment is made, actually, before something changes in the portal. To allow for nom source notification.

#3 traditionally there is an email. Not sure, but it may come from a different email address. Email says something like ‘update to your status’ or similar. At least it did with my sons. But, a phone call could come before the email.

Checking the portal occasionally is a good way to go, imo. Your applicant won’t miss anything if they check weekly, for example.

I feel for her,😕 the waiting is indeed TOUGH!! Hoping she hears great news soon!!! I have my plan B in place and I hope I don't have to use it, but I am grateful for the opportunity to have the option.

My 2021' Grad had very similar standardized scores. He did have a 4+ GPA. He did get the Principal Nom from our MOC. I planned a European vacation over I-Day because I didn't think there was a snowball's chance. He got the Principal Nom for a reason, as did you. My "understanding" (now) is they have to have a pretty darn good reason not to offer the Appointment to the Principal Nom. If you have an aggressive MOC (or Committee) they could look into it. Best of Luck to you!!!
Thank you for that information! I have a 4.4 GPA so that is good news!! Thank you

Lucky day, lucky week, will have to wait a little longer. Keep the emails coming Navyoline.com and one of these days the waiters and speculators here might be fortunate enough to fill that cart and checkout.
May the Luck of the Irish be with you all.🍀🍀🍀

Keep your chin up and realize it’s March 17th and you are still in the game with a Principal nomination. If you weren’t academically qualifie, you would have surely been weeded out by now. Are you qualified physically and medically? Work plan B and C.
I am medically and physically qualified!! Thanks for the insight. I have a plan B, C, And D but want the USNA the most.

Does anyone know how to tell whether a nom. is a principal nom.? My DS received NJ#1 senator nomination but I don't know if that is a principal nomination. Does that matter as long as a nomination is in place? Will appreciate any insights.

That is the senior senator - Menendez.

You may or may not have a principal. Someone else may have the principal nom as well.

I received a letter in the mail from my MOC telling me I received the principal nomination. It will not show up in the portal I believe.

This may be a dumb question, but I am new to this...
Can you have a principal nomination from a Vice Presidential or Presidential nomination?

The VP is awarded to one candidate, so in theory that is the principal nomination 😂. The presidential are awarded to whoever qualifies for it and appointments are given out based on the number allowed (100ish, I think) and admissions needs in building the class.

NJ Senators MAY have changed their process but in the past, they used the unranked slate method which allows the Academies to choose who they want off of their nomination slates

Any idea on the how the three from the forum were notified of their appointments today? Decision represented in their portal?
