USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

That is the senior senator - Menendez.

You may or may not have a principal. Someone else may have the principal nom as well.
Thanks. It was Booker. It seems NJ does not use principal nom. That is what I am hearing from folks.

Most don’t. There are plenty of threads on it. I personally disagree with the use of principal noms. Admissions seems better prepared to determine who is the best candidate that fits their puzzle.

My son secured a MOC nom. We didn’t know what type it was. The MOC did personally call him from her cell phone and congratulating him about the Naval Academy. It was just a nomination and he was color blind and would be 3q and congratulating him seemed premature. (She knows the process quite well as her son was a midshipman - so it isn’t that). During his 4C year he was told by someone connected to the committee that he was a principal nom. To this day we don’t know if it was or not. If you are the right puzzle piece it doesn’t matter.

If you search threads, 1 on the portal is the senior Senator and 2 is the junior. Not sure why it isn’t that way now.

Does anyone know how to tell whether a nom. is a principal nom.? My DS received NJ#1 senator nomination but I don't know if that is a principal nomination. Does that matter as long as a nomination is in place? Will appreciate any insights.
Have you read here? The pinned thread?

Your son has an LOA, and if all of the conditions are met in that LOA, he will receive a full offer of appointment.

The VP is awarded to one candidate, so in theory that is the principal nomination 😂. The presidential are awarded to whoever qualifies for it and appointments are given out based on the number allowed (100ish, I think) and admissions needs in building the class.
Actually, That is not correct. The VP nomination works like the MOC/Senator nominations. There can be 10 nominated and since it is controlled by the academy, they are competitive.

Thank you so much. This was incredibly helpful.

DS has had no activity on the portal since early December....we are aware that no "No" is a good thing BUT no movement or communication at all does not seem like a positive sign. DS has plan B - Z (or at least it seems to be that many) but USNA is 1st choice. Just wondering if anyone else has had what feels like "0" movement for this long?

My DS has been CPR for two months with no movement at all. I suspect that many candidates are in this situation.

Thanks for sharing. We are also in the same boat for our DS. We have had a couple of updates in CIS though; when the noms. came, that section was updated and medical changed from a x to check when his eye exam was done. Fingers and toes crossed! Good luck to everyone waiting! Until then we will keep checking here.

DS was CPR for over 4 months before we found out on March 11. Notifications are coming out hot and heavy now - keep checking! Good luck!

My son has been CPR since September. Got his nom the end of Nov and that's been the only change since. Just sitting here...trying not to look...

Same, DS has not heard a thing since submitting a requested CFA re-do mid January. Everything else had been finished mid-November and CPR ever since. But DH and I agree that no no’s means still a possible yes.

I have also had zero activity since the beginning of January. The waiting is very hard!! It says pending review which I would rather have than a rejection. It is good that he has other plans just in case. I also have plenty of back-ups but none compares to USNA. Just remember it's rolling admissions against around 5-10,000 candidates.

The military teaches you to hurry up and wait. This is part of learning the military life style. Just a note… just because someone is CPR does not mean they have been reviewed. It’s not first in, first out. I had a water walker candidate a few years ago who finished their app in Aug. I could see in the system he was boarded in Oct. Navy ISR, LOA to USAFA, first board USAF ROTC, USCGA early board. Didn’t get his appt until April from USNA. USNA commits every year by April 15th. For those lurking in future classes, remember this thread. We always say hope to hear early, but prepare mentally for April 15th. The wait list could even more waiting. Good luck to those waiting. Those with a BFE, go for a run and enjoy your last few months of being a kid.
