USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Likely a stupid question (I'm a novice to this forum): Does the USNA Board have a limit (or allotment) of LOA per state? I've seen a lot of appointments in my state where candidates had LOAs. Do they keep any districts LOA free? Wondering aloud for my kid's sake.
There are no limits to LOA’s.

They are a conditional appointment. Once conditions are met, it becomes a full offer.

They are more common (still NOT the majority of appointments, however) early on, with a common condition being receipt of a nomination, and clearing medical. Obviously later in the game, those conditions are already met, and no LOA is needed. The offer can go to full offer of appointment immediately for someone one they want to appoint.

I’m looking way too forward to that! Just there (birthday weekend) and recommend (for happy potential future planning purposes); Bean Rush Coffee, 1845 (coffee on the Yard and in the MidStore), Preserve, Masons, and my personal favorite Boatyard (oh and the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel too):) Gosh I love this town too much; it worries me! And you can get those US Naval Academy Sea Bags online too; https://seabags.com/on/demandware.store/Sites-sea_bags-Site/default/Search-Show?q=Navy&lang=default
Good luck everyone!:)
I graduated from Annapolis High, along with all my siblings. And even after serving myself and moving around, settled where we're still semi-local (living in Howard County). Had my fair share of Annapolis, and avoided it for years unless visiting my parents, who still live there, until the kid got in. I've visited it more in the last 9 months than overall in the last 9 years! And make small tuition payments every time. Plebe's littlest bro already has 3 different sized Bill the Goats! :p

No it’s not late. This is part of what is happening behind the scenes, that we don’t see, as classes are built.

Yes people can be appointed pending medical. Even up until a final OK by Staff on Iday. It happens.

Still almost a month until April 15th.

And 2.5 months until Iday.

Get those records turned in!!
Hello. When my DD needed records and actually a new diagnosis I went to the doctor’s office in person the very next morning after my dd got the email requesting the paperwork, when the nurse got there to open I was already waiting, spoke to the nurse, explained my dd situation, it took about 1/2 hour and she came back with an appointment, the doctor saw her the next day in the afternoon. This specialist practices at a very seek-after children hospital, where the waiting time for appointment may be well over a month. Right in front of us the doctor himself called to referred her to the department for the necessary testing. A week after he signed all the documentation. The same evening my dd emailed to DoDMERB. It is doable you just have to move fast @Navyfly73

What do you think the chances of getting an appointment to the naval academy or NAPS are at this point in the process? Have there been a lot of TWEs between now and the 15th in the past or appointments? Does it mean absolutely anything if they are still in it this late in the game or is it they are just medically and CFA qualified?
Sorry for all the questions. Just a stressed out mom trying to figure out the process.

I'm right here with you, trying to remain patient. Good Luck to your son/daughter!

None of us know the answer. It could be the file hasn’t been reviewed by the admissions board yet. Late in the game, that pile is dwindling as expected. It could be maybe another person was appointed from that MOC slate so now the candidate sits on the NWL. Those calls aren’t made until usually late. Maybe they are being considered for prep or NAPS. Many of those still to go. Maybe it’s a dozen other things.

There will be a lot of TWEs, because it’s a numbers game. There are more than appointments available. Also TWEs haven’t rally started rolling out. I think one wave has for candidates that didn’t finish their apps.

I know everyone wants some comfort during this stressful time. None of us have exact answers to give. Even those of us who have been involved as BGOs for long times. No TWE means they are still in the game. Good luck to all waiting.

Thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

My first post. I decided to make an account to help me cope with the wait for my DS's decision from USNA. I told my wife I feel like I'm suffering alone. DS is more pragmatic about this whole process. (ie, I did my best, if USNA doesn't want me, then it wasn't meant to be.) Therefore, it doesn't appear that he is suffering like me.

I can learn a thing or two from him! Anyways, DS told me two kids from his school already received appointments after receiving LOA's. They are both from our congressional district as well.

Does this mean, this does not look good for us? We did not have an LOA. DS's application has been CPR since January. The last item on the checklist was his transcript which was received mid-January. Obviously DODMERB was late due to their issues, so that was received by the Academy in mid-February.

I just checked my portal. I got a fully qualified offer from NAPS. "You have been offered: NAPS - Fully Qualified Offer To NAPS" I do not know what to think. Can people tell me more about it? After I complete NAPS am I guaranteed in? I just need encouragement. I know I should be proud but I do not know how to feel right now.

Thank you for this information!

I cannot PM you as you are new. But when you are able, and if you would like, I can connect you with a current NAPster, to ask question of.

There is NO DOWNSIDE 💯

I'm not sure that is accurate. My understanding is that there are several options as to how MOCs can rank their slates:

1. Unranked slate. This allows the academy to select any of the nominated individuals without bias.
2. Principal nomination with the remainder of the slate unranked. This would direct the academy to appoint the principal nominee for appointment if they are fully qualified.
3. Ranked Slate: This option would direct the academy to appoint the highest ranked candidate who is fully qualified.

It is my understanding that all MOCs COULD have a principal nom, but that other constructions of slates beyond the unranked slate have fallen out of favor in order to give the academies maximum flexibility in the selection process.
absolutely correct. Former Hill chief

Congratulations! Quick question- did you get a nomination from a senator or MOC? (Just curious if that is a part of a "fully qualified offer" to NAPS)

Well... finally notified today DS is under waiver review so we get to join the rest of you waiting in that column. Totally expected. Now we wait for the AMI request, hoping there is one. Also waiting for paper orders for massive oconus move (also waiting on a waiver, but not medical) in the next few months so I can actually schedule HHG, medical, visas, all the things. I should write a song about hurry up and wait 😬 Or just bury my head in the sand, that sounds good too.

ETA wear your seatbelts kids! DS was and thats why he's alive to even wait on a waiver
