100% of the time they come out in the morning, afternoon or evening. I heard from this guy who once knew someone who had read about the navy and stayed in a Holiday Inn Express that the appointments will always come on a day that ends in Y and never on February 30th. But who knows? It might!

YES! But usually when the moon is out, but only if it isn't a full moon.

(I completely understand the desire for ANY clue, but I think a lot of it depends on the behind the scenes. The board meets on Thursdays (traditionally) and they notify MOC and give them "a few days" to notify candidates before things get pushed to the portals. So I am guessing some MOCs might get notified on Thursday, but some might not get notified until the next Monday. And if an admissions counselor has to go back and manually update portals that might take them a day or two....so I think they really get spread out throughout the week).

Sorry but you're missing key steps between Admissions Board and when notifications are given. The biggest is the "Noms and Appointments" step which is where they take the approved candidates and compare with the rest of their slate. The Admissions Board itself does not do that, they just review each candidate to determine if they're qualified and do not do the selection from the slates or from the National Pool.
As I said elsewhere, the Admissions Board is now meeting twice per week.

Thats all I've seen, maybe 2. We're waiting on NY too but have a Presidential so maybe won't matter. 🫣

Thanks for the clarification. I have no idea how any of the "behind the scene stuff" works. Sorry if it came across like I was implying I did. It was just lighthearted banter that I then tried to add a little context of it isn't like there is a mass uniform notification day of the week. There are some in between steps. But yes, i definitely overstepped in adding some of the known behind the scene stuff without clarification that I have actually no idea. Thanks for the information.

New York traditionally does their nomination panel interviews later than many other states . DD had her nomination interview in December and was notified on January 25 that she had received a nomination . I’m not sure, but would imagine that might be a reason why you don’t see a lot of early appointments from NY . Hang in there my fellow New Yorkers !

Small but important clarification, especially for the newbies trying to understand the nomination process:

MOC means “member of Congress.” Both senators and representatives are members of Congress. So the term MOC refers to either or both. A nomination from either one carries equal weight. And you only need one nomination.

That's soooo nice to hear as we are in the same boat . DS knows about 2 kids in our area from another high school. So ....he was very discouraged but your message gave us a little bit of more hope :)

I've heard that too... We were one of the exceptions because the Rep was up for re-election, so I guess that means they are supposed to get them in early? Anyway DS was notified at the Army Navy game of all things but I have heard that typically NY is a little later.

What order is it? Admissions then Noms and Appointments or vice versa?

Do I need another nomination from MOC or the senator if I finish prep school? I am reading on other sites that you have to reapply and or get another nomination.

You do need another nomination but not necessarily from a Congressman or Senator as NAPS opens up another nomination source for you in the SECNAV Nomination pool (active duty military). There have been a number of discussions on here that say that the Congressman/Senator noms are not needed but I've personally interviewed a number of NAPS (and other service Prep Schools) as a member of MOC interview panels over the years.
 
The MOC sometimes does not call. In the case of my DS, it was just a night time portal update and an early morning email.
