USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Thank you for your response. She has a nom from MOC and we are told she is a "blue chip" recruit. Fingers crossed. This is everything to her, and therefore to me. I know every parent on this forum understands the feeling. It has really helped to read through all the posts.
She’s in the best possible position then. Managing the noms and appointments lash-ups is an Olympic-tier Jenga-Tetris-3D chess game combined. Some pieces have to come off the board for next moves to occur.

The waitlist is definitely moving. I was moved up from the waitlist to a full appointment this morning! Hang in there, and good luck to your DD.

Hi everyone. Been stalking for a while so wanted to ask the group a question. My DD has been a recruited athlete, though also has the grades/resume. Then about 3 weeks ago coaches told her they didn't know what happened but she was waitlisted. They still feel "hopeful". Has anyone seen this situation before? We have had a very rough last couple weeks having walked away from other recruiting options a long time ago.
Our DS is pretty much in the same situation. USNA began recruiting him fall of his junior year. He unfortunately had to wait for a medical waiver that just finally came through last week, but he had already been placed on the waitlist a few days prior. I completely understand how stressful this is as he has also walked away from other DI opportunities. The USNA coach has kept in close contact with him and says he may just have to wait a little longer for an appointment, but not having the official offer is very difficult as time slips away!

The waitlist will trickle and drip, here and there, as decisions locally are made.

A larger volume of movement (appointments and TWE’s) will occur soon-ish after the May 1st final decision day.

And there will still be trickles and drips, as final, FINAL pieces of the class are snapped into place.

Hang in there. There is no way to know what’s about to occur. You are still in it, until you are not.

Curious to how you found out? Email, call, portal? Congratulations!!

DC was issued a red one before heading to Europe for a training. I seem to remember that they needed the personal passport as part of the application for the official one.
It is not required but if you have a personal one and have never had an official (red) or “no-fee” (blue) one they will certainly write down the number and issue date and want a photo copy of it. Official or not varies completely by country and the rules the US has worked out with each of them. We’ve done overseas before and DH as the sponsor needed and official, me and 2 kids needed ”no-fee“ but we all had to have tourist to travel. Youngest kid wasn’t born yet. Now we’re going to a new country and all 5 need official but since youngest hasn’t had anything on orders before, they took down her tourist info. The rest of us they recorded passport info for the no-fee ones that expired 8 years ago and had to submit those with the applications, not the current tourist ones. Have I completely confused everyone yet? 😜 I just spent a while at the Pentagon passport office yesterday getting things straight, and dealt with quite possibly the nicest and most accommodating government civilian I’ve ever met! So much common sense applied. They do exist!

My DS did have a slightly similar situation and from what I understand it is, unusual... He wanted to attend USAFA or USNA and play football there. DS was young for his grade in school (started at USNA at 17 years old) and was a late bloomer physically. He wasn't really noticed by college recruiters until his senior year since he didn't have the necessary size required for D1 football his junior year. By the time DS started getting recruited his senior year, most if not all of the blue chip spots were gone since the majority of D1 athletes are recruited as juniors. DS was told to start applying to the SAs and try to get an appointment on his own. If he got in, there was a spot for him on the team. However, there was enough constant communication between him and the SA recruiters, that even though he was applying on his own, we REALLY thought they would help him get an appointment along the way since his grades, ACT score, and extra-curricular were competitive. Nope. DS got waitlisted. Like your DD, he had to let all his other recruiting options walk away as he continued to wait for an answer from the SAs. He did get a full offer of appointment to USNA on May 17th. Thankfully, DS was able to impress the coaches and has continued to physically grow, so it has all worked out really well in the end. Wishing your DD the very best--keep the faith and stay hopeful!

I wondered if you came off the waitlist when you posted your good news. Congrats to you!!!!! And super excited to see Team Hopeful coming into play.

hopeful WL college app here, just wondering if anyone knows, are college transfers expected or required to stay in the same major/ field of study that they pursued at civilian college?

Not at all. If you go to the USNA website, you’ll see the plebe year academics laid out, the majors available, the courses for the majors - just like any college catalog. You’ll get briefs on all the majors, talk with your academic advisor and upperclass, and have plenty of time to make a decision.

Just in case you want a sneak peek at your mail being delivered, have you signed up for USPS "Informed Delivery?" It is awesome. You see a picture of the front of each piece of mail you are receiving that day. We get an email, but I can also check the app hours before the email hits the inbox.
I did sign up for informed delivery and I love it.

Well my son was denied on April 14, and I meant to post on this forum a note of thanks for all the help and assistance in the application process and I was going to tell you all that I would be back next season.
But
This Thursday my son was granted a NROTC scholarship which we 100% didnt expect!!!!
So...
I thank you all for the support and assistance and wish you all the best in your endeavors and those of your kids. My son is taking the scholarship whole heartedly and wont be reapplying to the academy next year.
best wishes to all!!!

‘Has it ever?’ Probably.

‘Is it common?’ No.
Speaking of TWEs, has anyone actually received the physical TWE? My son wants to frame it as he busts butt this summer and then CP’s NROTC at ODU next year and continues his undeterred road to the USNA (or if it just never happens, commissioning as an officer in the Navy). He’s already reapplied and started studying to improve SATs and CFA. Thanks all! Miss everyone here and good luck to everyone still WL!!:)

No physical TWE here, either. DD is on the re-app train as well, and just got her ACT scores from 4/15 back. She didn't study at all (was hoping to not need to take the test at all! sigh...) but did unexpectedly well and had several big improvements. On the right track and will take another run at it over the summer!
