USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

DD just received TWE . On to GT for Aerospace Engineering and 4 yr NROTC scholarship . (She only applied to USNA and Nrotc ). She will be joining her second year AROTC sister at Ga Tech . DD got her nrotc NSI assignment yesterday, and she excited to get started as a Midshipman . She says she will reapply to USNA, but time will tell . Good luck to all remaining !
Go Jackets!

I got an email saying the class is full but I can still remain on the waitlist. Does anyone know from the past how likely it is to be accepted even a few days before I-Day?

No wat to tell. The endgame calculus likely varies each year. You’re still standing!

Posted this on “Hopeful” but thought it might belong here too!!!:)….I haven’t visited this wonderful, supportive, positive and informative forum since my DS got his TWE in mid April purge. Everyone was super helpful with detailed instructions on reapplying! After he talked to his BGO and was so encouraged from him and about the process he decided to get right back on the horse and put in his reapplication the minute it opened for 28. There was a chart with dates and plans and milestones and goals! He’s now CP at ODU NROTC and got into NSI for Phase 3. He worked his a&* off and just found out he crushed his 4th SAT; went from 1390 Super score (720E, 670M) to 1510 (780E, 730M). He’s taken the ACT again too and will take it again in mid July. He upped his GPA and class rank just a bit too. My point here is that if you really want this, please do not give up! Get out there and make improvements in every measure-able and reapply! I’m so proud of all of you for doing this and it’s such a hard road but don’t be discouraged!:) Just do one thing each day towards your goals!!! Good luck to everyone! And thanks so much everyone on this forum!

I hope he has a good experience with the ODU unit! I spent a year with them and I really enjoyed working with the Marine staff. (I think some of the officers and enlisted staff have left since I was there, though.) I have the utmost respect for the Marine AMOIs and I hope he doesn't let them scare him! ;)

As the Class of ’27 settles into high Plebe Summer and the potential Class of ’28 ponders its next move after Summer Seminar and other activities, I wanted to return for a moment to this friendly old thread because it meant so much to so many people for such a long time. You know who you are.

This is where we asked about SAT scores, B&G interviews, Congressional nominations and medical waivers. This is where so many DSs and DDs were CPR, Under Waiver Review, or LOA, got the BFE or the TWE -- or wait list -- and shared their journeys openly, sometimes triumphantly, occasionally painfully.

I’ve waited a while to post this note. I had to hear the strong, stoic voice of DS on the phone yesterday from among a field full of 1,183 other Plebes to report that, indeed, PS was hard and hot, but that DS knew was going to make it. It was a huge relief.

So this is just a note of thanks to the rock solid group of candidates, parents, and longtime observers and sages of the USNA admissions process. In particular, of course, is @Capt MJ who seems to stand watch around the clock, dispensing her advice and wisdom, and reminding us all it ain’t over til it’s over.

That was DS’s story. Application materials submitted in August. Nomination received in October. Medical exam in November. CPR in January. Waitlist in April. LOA in May with AMI request. Fully qualified offer in June after receiving waiver. Reported for I-Day, with his fellow plebes from all 50 dates, on June 29.

The great thing about this thread was the perseverance of those on it. When someone’s hope flagged, another picked up the guidon. You embodied Jim Valvano in 1993: “Don’t give up. Don’t ever give up.”

Thank you all.

Didn't one of 2027 candidates receive his/her appointment offer on June 28? "Dont give up. Don't ever give up". Thanks for reminding us of these words by JV.

Lurker-no-more. Thank you for all of the many excellent posts that have answered many of our questions over the past year.

DD received her USNA Nomination from Senator Marco Rubio. [NASS 3, Inspire Program, CVW]
DD just submitted applications to Rubio and Scott. Curious to how long after submitting the application do you find out if you’ve secured an interview? Thank you!

You generally do not need to duplicate posts across several threads to see responses. Posting this in the current State Nominations thread for Class of 2028 was the appropriate place, rather than resurrecting last cycle’s threads. Let’s hope someone pops up with an answer.

Keep in mind unless the elected official’s website, their staffers or other reliable source indicates they do interviews, there are some elected officials who do not use interviews. They are all free to conduct their nom process, evaluation and selections as they wish. Or to not nominate at all, though that is rare.

I just figured that someone from last year would be more likely to be able to answer my question. And wasn’t sure if cadets/parents from last year would still be active so I asked to a few FL people.
Scott and Rubio do interviews and I’m trying to plan ahead. Lots of coordination going on these days! Thanks.

Absent someone posting specific information, you know the two interview dates, so I would make plans on attending both. Given Senator Rubio is holding interviews across the state, it is likely a location will only be a few hours drive (shouldn’t be too much of a logistics impact); Senator Scott appears to only hold in person interviews in Tampa (I'm only going off the senator’s website). For Senator Scott, you could have DD email the nominations coordinator next week to “confirm” all parts of the package have been received and, as part of that correspondence, mention that she is working the logistics to get to Tampa and if she should still pursue/plan on that. However, I think it is always better to plan for it and if it falls through, it’s less of a strain than going the other direction.

That’s a good idea. I’ll have DD email or call the offices for Rubio and Scott. She is trying to coordinate due to rowing. Her coach is trying to make lineups for regattas those weekends and DD may just need to tell him to plan to put her in a single in case she gets an interview. Thanks!
