every time logging into the portal, hoping for an update.... its tough, hang in there!!!The wait on this list is brutal
I held on hope to that being true when my son got his USNA Waiver in February. He got Turned Down in April, but still hasn't gotten his TWE. He just had to give up his 4 year scholarship because NROTC hasn't granted him the waiver in all these months and I couldn't afford the school without the waiver. His new plan is reapply to USNA. If he doesn't get in this next time, he will graduate with his Aerospace Engineering degree from UC-San Diego and then go through the process after he graduates of becoming an officer.I have heard anecdotally on here that waiver requests are only processed if that candidate definitely would get appointment offer as this post would indicate. But, the official guidance, I believe, is for ones "Competitive" for appointment.
Are there other waitlistees still waiting on waivers to even been requested? (via the letter stating such) It seems to me that USNA would already be looking over those candidates' waiver options in case there is a late spot available., and not wait until they move from WL to LOA.
Also, Navyfly73, I am sorry this is so frustrating. One thing I am learning (however slowly) as a new military parent is that the decisions of the service have to be made for the overall service and not per individual, however frustrating and individually unfair they may be.

I got my waiver a week after i got waitlisted. I don’t think it means much because I’m still waitlisted but it’s better than not having a waiver at all I guess. My DS just got his medical waiver approved while he is still on the waiting list. I guess that is promising, or just clearing the medical waiver in case they need to make an offer. Trying not to think too much into it.

@SnootyHen - My plan B is CU Boulder on an AFROTC scholarship. Still keeping my fingers crossed to get pulled from the WL for USAFATWE
DS is Boulder-bound on a 4 yr NROTC scholarship which is a pretty great Plan B though still a sad day. I think he will re-apply. He says he will but who knows, maybe those mountains will woo him to stay. It's been a great journey sharing with you all and I hope many of you have better news today than we did! Officially handing in my 8-ball.
I'm so sorry to hear, but his comment about the mountains sounds promising. He is blessed to have you to support him during this roller coaster ride.TWE

I’m sorry, but keep him focused forward. He can go for hikes in the flatirons and clear his mind. Who knows what tomorrow will bring, but if he owns his own path he won’t go wrong, no doubt!TWE
