Exactly lol. My life was so much easier. I just graduated and went to OCS. No waiting , but no $$$$$ for school lol.We waited in that 7 month line just to be placed in a smaller line. This is like being at the airport when they open up a new TSA window and move some people over and you feel like you moved up but you really didn't. LOL!!!!
I have been waiting for a definitive answer for months to finalize a summer vacation. Clearly I’m not going to get that answer so I guess I just plan it around the just in case he gets in dates. We waited in that 7 month line just to be placed in a smaller line. Make the decision at the latest possible time when you have all info.DD, USNA WL, USAFA Admit, FTC, MOC, NY
USNA is first choice....what to do??

I went from being nervous that he wouldn’t get in, to now being nervous he will…and he will find out in June…when we’re in Europe and will have a ridiculously short amount of time to get everything done and ready to report when we get home. (I know, total first world problems…but I am a planner and this has definitely exceeded my patience )I not only had to decide if I wanted to spend a stupid amount of money on a Disney annual pass for my DS in January but had to book this summer, this winter break AND next summer's vacations around the not knowing. I have flights and hotels booked for so many things "just in case" that I hope I remember all the places I need to cancel if things change. If nothing else, this is an exercise in letting go of the things I cannot control because I have never been very good at that.
And never give up the annual pass!I went from being nervous that he wouldn’t get in, to now being nervous he will…and he will find out in June…when we’re in Europe and will have a ridiculously short amount of time to get everything done and ready to report when we get home. No. NAPS usually has their own waitlist. You won't be "rejected" after being waitlisted, you just won't get off the waitlist or they'll close it when they have the number of candidates that they need.Hey guys I’m one of the waitlisted candidates. I had a question I was hoping someone could answer. If we are waitlisted but then rejected is NAPS still an option for us?
I ended up not renewing his AP because my thought was that if he DOES get in, he won't be able to use it anyway and if he ever is available to go with us, he can buy military tickets. If he doesn't get in and they don't re-offer them (we were grandfathered in before the great scandalous end) he still won't be going very often anymore and I will have to bite the bullet and pay *gulp* rack rate.
Plan the vacation! We have a big trip scheduled that I have been planning (& still in the process). I am so grateful for the distraction with the stress of waiting until April 15th. Now that we are on the waitlist, I am so glad that my son has something fun to look forward to. This has been a long challenging journey, but we are honored to be considered. I just hate when a well meaning friend or family member asks DS his college plans. His friends have been posting their acceptance letters for months while we go to interviews and medical exams. Now he may not even know until after graduation. At least now when they ask what are you doing after graduation, he can say he is going on vacation!I have been waiting for a definitive answer for months to finalize a summer vacation. Interesting to see how USNA’s acceptance yield has increased. That bulletin says 1250 offers of appointment were made, to create a class of 1170. That’s an acceptance yield of 94%, significantly higher than the 86% announced at DD’s I-Day for the Class of 2022.
Back then, when the Supe announced that yield, he was very proud that USNA was better at turning offers into acceptances than any of the Ivies and Stanford. In other words, when applicants say USNA is their first choice, they mean it! That 94% yield is simply astounding.
I-Day for ‘26, the presentation that was given to us stated we had 1173 + 12 internationalI was thinking the same thing! Amazing!!
Is the 1,170 class size smaller than usual? I had in my head a 1,200 head count, not sure where I got that.
I believe (and I trust others can confirm or correct) the mandate for the DOD SAs is maximum 4400 mids/cadets, maximum 1200 per class. The incoming class of 1170 suggests less-than-expected attrition in the upper classes. I say “suggests” because there can be other reasons and I don’t know for sure. It could be something as simple as year-to-year variance within an expected range.I was thinking the same thing! Amazing!!
