USNA Class of 2029 Waiting, Speculating, Hoping

DS got the great Christmas present today that he received a nomination for USNA from KY-3 MOC and is fully qualified awaiting application review. We’re also awaiting word from the two senators for USNA admissions flexibility. Fingers crossed for him and all on this board in similar situations!
12/9 DS - KY - 2, same , congratulations

I personally found it surprising how invested parents are in these things. At least, my parents wouldn't try and ask questions on this forum. Really gave me insight into differences in culture.

Hello-My son received a phone call from our MOC that he received an offer of appointment to USNA on the 26th as well and his nomination on the 19th too. And, nothing has changed in his portal nor have we received anything in the mail. We are guessing that the holidays are partially responsible for the timeline.
Congratulations to your daughter!

in his Greetings. My daughter got the call on 12/26 from our MOC that she's been granted her apointment to USNA. We only received the nomination on 12/19, so we were stunned it came together so quickly. Waiting for either her portal to update, or recieve something physical in the mail (or email) before we announce anything publicly, or update the "list". FYI, she is a recruited athlete, and her coach has confirmed the appointment is set.

If anyone is interested in dates, she passed CFA back in June, and DODMERB in July. We were advised to submit everything as early as possible, so we took that to heart. That said, the wait for her nomination felt like an eternity.

How do you know who is what culture, on an anonymous forum?

I think it’s more likely that you have discovered a gathering place for like minded, passionate people. With a common interest. I doubt this is a cultural thing. IDK anyone’s cultural background here.

I'm assuming that everyone isn't of the same culture, so mostly just differences in their experiences from my own. Culture in the sense of someone's environment and upbringing.

Son started his application 4 months ago in his senior year. He is 3Q, 2 Nominations to USNA and 2 nominations to USAFA. Crossing fingers…
Isn’t there no 3Q status for USNA? You can know if you passed CFA and DoDMERB but they do not tell you if academically qualified. Is that correct?

I find most people just assume they are 3Q.
And that could be a false assumption. No applicant knows the entirety of the pool they are competing in. Ever. An applicant may meet the averages posted of the prior class but that doesn’t mean they are 3Q for their applicant pool.

Might be the most basic and not worth asking question... but I'm going to ask anyway. Status on my application went from "Pending" to "Complete - Pending Review" is that only to indicate that some pieces weren't there initally and now they are? Like my DoDMERB (which still isn't showing up on my progress tab) but it has in fact been completed.

And does this remain the status until I know if I was accepted or not.

The portal from Pending to CPR happened to my DD when her MOC nominations were up loaded early Dec, but her Medical & CFA were already done.

She reached out to 'her' Coach at USNA last week because something was not showing up in her portal that he said would, and it had been a month. He was very thoughtful and sent a nice text back and noted that admission has been flooded with incoming applications & information since the week before Thanksgiving and it's continues to pick-up. He said they are used to this, and they give every candidate file their full attention, so portal updates and feedback can take a lot longer between now and April than they did between August and November. 👍

Hold fast that it will all work out, (It's really hard we know 😬) all the best to you, and Go Navy!

Surveying the group for how long it took to get the Big Fat Envelope (BFE) from USNA.
Can only speak to DS cycle in 2020. Got notice of appointment via call from Senatorial staff 15 Jan. Kept checking USPS informed delivery for a pending BFE in the mailbox. Never showed up in those email notifications.

We were headed 3 hours one way for a USMMA gathering for appointees when I randomly checked front stoop. We never use the front door. There it was, trapped in a hedge. The wind had blown the BFE off the porch and into the bushes. Our mail carrier had tried to get it to us and tuck it away. It wouldn’t fit in our tiny mail box.

It’s a fun memory in hindsight.

It’s nice to get. He enjoyed it. Good photos. 5 years later it’s in a storage tote in a closet here at home. He is off doing all the things and at this time it isn’t on his radar at all nor does he need to pack it across the country multiple times. I guess I am the keeper of potential items that he may want in posterity.

Morning - My DD received her BFE on Dec 20th. She did have an LOA. She received a call from our MOC on Dec 6th that she was awarded a nomination. Her portal was updated the following day, Saturday, Dec 7th with the offer. She accepted that day. Good luck to all waiting.

Is she an athlete?
